5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic for kids and refreshingly void of today's violenc
Our boys love it and dad does too. Good science fiction and well thought out. Superboy's dog Krypto adds alot for children. Wholesome and void of all the violence in today's videos. Kids can watch it in peace without getting scared. Much better than the grown up superman cartoon.

3.0 out of 5 stars nostaglic comic
This a video for baby boomers who grew up reading superman/superboy comics in the sixties. It's a nostalgia trip. Unfortunatly, it's probably too slow for young people today.

This review is from: Super Powers Collection - Superboy [VHS] (VHS Tape)
SUPERMAN! no wait its a small Superman, oh it's SUPERBOY!

8 Classic Action packed episodes:

1.The Revolt of Robotville - Robots directing traffic is one thing but when Robots start operating tanks, things get scary!
2.The Great Kryptonite Caper - Lana has a nice necklace, but its made of Kryptonite! For some reason, Clark doesent like it.
3.Krypto's Calamitous Capers - Whats with Krypto the superdog lately that makes him want to suddenly attack Superboy? Maybe its the beam that the Mad professor created to make him do just that, or not.
4.Double Trouble, Double Doom - Evil, bald astronauts attempt to take over a solid gold planet. Thats all I have here.
5.Superboy meets Mighty Lad - There's a new superhero on the block who is trying to steal Superboy's glory, but he actually isnt all that super and has other intentions opposite of the ones a nice person might have!
6.The Black Knight - Superboy goes back in time to rescue this little kid who he knows and ends up being challenged to a duel by the Black Knight of King Arthur's Court! Merlin, the wizard shows up, but Superboy is a lot cooler than he is!
7.Krypto: Super Seeing Eye Dog - Krypto accidentally blinds Superboy so its up to the Superdog to lead him home. Superboy regains his vision when a bomb blows up in his face, but Krypto still feels bad, which he should.
8.The Jinxed Circus - Freaky things start occurring at a circus that has recently come to Smallville and Superboy realizes its not because of the freaks that work there but because of the freaks that used to work there!

5.0 out of 5 stars Superboy a Real Super Video, December 12, 2002
This review is from: Super Powers Collection - Superboy [VHS] (VHS Tape)
In this video, you get what you see. If you want to watch some of the old episodes of Superboy from the 1960s cartoons that were televised along with The New Adventures of Superman, this will be for you. If you are not interested in old television animation, you will want to pass this one up. Personally, I enjoy watching stories of Superman from any era. I know the stories can be very childish and corny, particularly when you add Krypto the super-pup, but it is all done in fun and it is part of the Superman mythos. I only wish more of these stories were available. I recommend this to anyone who enjoys the nastalgia of 60s Superman stories.

5.0 out of 5 stars Spectacular, January 29, 2000
This review is from: Super Powers Collection - Superboy [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I purchased this video for my 5 year old son who loves Batman. I told him these are the cartoons I watched as a kid. He absolutely loves it. I also bought him Aquaman, Superman and Batman, all of the Super Powers series. He loves them all.

Superboy was onf my favorites when I was a kid. I'd love to have all of these episodes and the New Adventures of Superman on DVD. I'd buy them all. I really hope they release them on DVD soon.

5.0 out of 5 stars Glad to have it, April 12, 2009

This will be brief. I love this video. I collect everything Superman. This Superboy cartoon collection is pretty good. With legal considerations between Warner Brothers and the creators of the Superboy character tying up any foreseeable DVD release of anything with the name Superboy on it, this will probably be the only way to see these cartoons. I hate cheap bootlegs and won't buy them. I recommend this VHS to anyone actively collecting Superman/Superboy items. I have all the Super Powers Collection VHS tapes and they're all pretty good. Try Amazon or eBay to find them all.

I loved it for nostalgia sake, but even so I have to admit this wasn't classic animation by a long shot. Having been in the animation industry back in the late 80s, I recognize this genre as "TV animation," or "Saturday morning animation" and certainly wouldn't have made Walt Disney proud.

Which brings me back to this particular "Superboy" collection. OK, so why am I drawn to this material? Well, in the late 60s, I was a huge comics fan, particularly of DC's "Super" franchise. Plus, the theme song....while fairly cheesy...was so thrilling! I remember renting this video for my son in the late 80s, but I was the one who ended up darn near wearing the tape out!
