A good place to start!,

This review is from: Super Sensational Science Fair Projects (Hardcover)
I have 2 children in 5th and 6th grade who were required to do science fair projects. We started with this book. This book tells you how to do a project and gives you the results and what caused the results. The best part is that after you do the initial experiment (to see if it actually works!!) then it gives "Ideas for Experiments" and lists a number of questions for each project that your child can test for the science fair.
Some of the projects require specialized parts like solar cells, and magnet wire, etc.. which can be hard to find, however if you plan ahead you can order pretty much everything you need on the internet or find it in a specialty/hobby shop. So, before submitting your idea to the teacher be sure you can find all the supplies and TEST the experiment to see if you can get it to work, then pick one of the questions to test and research the answer. PS Both of my kids won the fair in their age group and recieved an A from projects in this book however, they also put in a lot of work researching their questions and a figuring out why they worked.

This is a great book with simple (meaning that your child does the work...not you) science experiments that teach and can be great science fair projects. I should know as my daughter won using one of the projects from the book. The projects are clearly explained with great drawings and the author explains how to put a science project together in easy terms for both you and your kids.
I highly recommend this inexpensive book for a student (elementary school) that needs a science fair project that he/she can put together and be proud of. The author has done a great service to kids and parents with this book. |
