Super Simple Sewing (Chicken Socks)

This was a fun craft, but my 6 year old needed quite a bit of help. Not much of an "independent" craft. Also, the fact that they give you 4 projects and 3 pieces of yarn leaves Mommy searching the house for a suitable replacement.

My 5 year old loved this sewing kit, but it took her less than an hour to complete all the projects and left her wanting more. It did require just the right level of supervision - she needed a little help, so we worked on it together which was nice, but it was not so difficult that I wound up doing it for her. As a previous reviewer mentioned, one of the projects requires yarn that is not included - not sure why when everything else you need is. The quality is not great - not that I expected perfection from a little book, but what drives me nuts is that only about half the cord catchers worked, so her projects keep falling apart. I'm a fan of the Chicken Socks books but this one was't my favorite. (For a little girl, I'd suggest the paper pups.)

I purchased this to help my little girl learn sewing. She loved it! There are a few projects in the kit, but the one she loved best was the little purse. The kit teaches how to use a needle and how to assemble items. Since the needle is round tipped, it probably won't be used for much else. But she's already asked to do more! So it definitely served it's purpose.

I purchased this item for my 4 year old niece, she was so excited that she was able to make something on her own. She can't wait to wear the bracelet on the family trip. I hope to find other projects like this for her.
