5.0 out of 5 stars Great cd for any Nintendo fan, July 15, 2009
This review is from: Super Smash Bros. Melee: Smashing...Live! (Audio CD)
This cd is an orchestrated sound track performed live by the Japanese Philharmonic Orchestra... in Japan of course. The performances themselves are terrific and orchestrated very well. This cd is fairly similar to Video Games Live except this cd is mostly focused on one game only: Super Smash Bros. Melee. Anyone that's a fan of the music from it should be happy with this.

Now here are some "potential" dislikes about the cd, I don't mind them at all but I'm listing them so you know what you are getting.
Keep in mind that it is not called Smash 'Em Live for nothing, it is a live recording. You will hear people applauding at the end of the song like at any concert.
Something else you'll hear if you have great hearing is this: On the Fire Emblem track, somewhere around the 12-13 second mark, you will hear a japanese woman cough.
In the medley tracks, they don't mention what songs are on it so you have to figure it out.
One last thing is the last track, how fitting. It seems like Japanese Nintendo fans really love any rendition of the slider theme originally heard from Super Mario 64. By the last half of the song, you will hear the audience clapping in time with the orchestra and applaud like crazy at the end. If anyone who is reading this owns the Mario and Zelda Big Band Live cd, you'll know what I'm talking about.

All of the "problems" with it I mentioned are very minor and do not make the cd terrible. It's still a terrific sound track.

5.0 out of 5 stars Smashing? Lives up to the name!, January 8, 2008
This review is from: Super Smash Bros. Melee: Smashing...Live! (Audio CD)
I Love this Album! Being a video gamer from way back, albeit a so-so one, I have an affinity for many of the tracks heard on this CD. This time however they are being performed in a style of which I enjoy most; Full Orchestra. I can't say enough about the music. The standout cues include Fountain of Dreams, Jungle Gardens, Hyrule Temple~Great Bay, and Brinstar Depths~Brinstar. I never thought the Mario Theme would sound good if it wasn't done by synth, but this CD proved me wrong. The track entitled "Smash Brothers Grand Medley" conatins the main themes from the Original Super Mario Trilogy and they are highlights as well. The F-Zero Racing theme sounds better as well.

If you can find this album grab it!
