5.0 out of 5 stars Wiley And Grampa Are A Hoot!
I discovered this series through my 9-year-old. I pick up books for him to look at, ones that I hope will catch his eye. While we were stranding in the waiting room at the doctor's office awaiting results of my wife's x-rays, he read the book to me. I read my book and he read his. Until he started laughing outloud and insisted on reading the book to me.

My son is a big Dav Pilkey fan and loves this series also.
Some Moms may not like the content but any Dad knows, he would have liked these books as a boy.
Anything to get them in books is OK with me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wiley And Grampa Are A Hoot!, January 13, 2007
I discovered this series through my 9-year-old. I pick up books for him to look at, ones that I hope will catch his eye. While we were stranding in the waiting room at the doctor's office awaiting results of my wife's x-rays, he read the book to me. I read my book and he read his. Until he started laughing outloud and insisted on reading the book to me.

As it turns out, Wiley has to travel to a soccer game in Carpathia County, Texas. The team there looks like a group of vampires, werewolves, and monsters. They lose horribly. Worst of all, Grampa gets into a fight with the Carpathian mascot (he always gets into fights with mascots) and gets bitten.

Back home, Grampa starts acting weird. It doesn't take Wiley long to figure out that Grampa has turned into a werewolf. The dogcatcher can't catch Grampa, and the sewing circle ladies (who turn out to be monster hunters arms with crossbows) are determined to kill him. Wiley soon finds out that the only hope he has of saving his Grampa is to get the soccer team together and somehow beat the Carpathian team in a rematch.

The book is filled with illustrations and inventive wordplay, as well as humorous situations that come out of the plot. If you have a son or know a boy who is a reluctant reader, this is a series geared for them.

Kirk Sroggs does it again. Another awesome installment to the hysterically funny series. My son (and I) are totally hooked.

I love the Wiley & Grampa series by Kirk Scroggs. The Super Soccar Freak Show is great for the Christmas season. It's 4th in the series. So, be sure to check out the rest. These books are a lot of fun for boys who might be picky about what they read. If your child loves the Captain Underpants books, then turn him on to these.
