Book Description

May 2, 2006
200 extra-large sudoku puzzles for hours of extra-large fun!

The sudoku craze just got even bigger--these extra-large puzzles feature 16 x 16 and 25 x 25 grids for greater challenges and enjoyment. The rules are the same as regular sudoku, just on a larger scale. A grid of 16 rows by 16 columns is split into 16 boxes of 16 squares each. The numbers 1 through 16 must appear in every row, every column, and every box. The same rules apply to grids of 25 x 25, using the numbers 1 through 25. If that's not big enough, sudoku fanatics can try the ultimate challenge-- a "Super Extreme" 49 x 49 puzzle. Take sudoku to the next level with SUPER SUDOKU!

5.0 out of 5 stars Giant-Sized Grids: 16X16 and Up!, October 20, 2006

If you find the standard 9X9 Sudoku grids getting a bit unchallenging, then this book might spark new interest in your number-placing skills. The book begins with 16X16 grids. But that is just the beginning. After the 16X16 grids there are 25X25 grids? For some reason the book skips 36X36 and jumps to a single 49X49 ultra challenge! Ouch!

Keeping track of your rows, columns and sub-grids takes on a whole new challenge in this one. If puzzles in the newspapers of puzzle magazines are not offering enough of a challenge then this book is a logical next step. These puzzles really do take more thought than the 9X9 variety. Check this one out if you really want a challenge.

5.0 out of 5 stars Super Addicting!, January 18, 2007
This review is from: Super Sudoku: 200 Extra-Large Japanese Number Puzzles (Paperback)
I have been looking for larger scale suduko puzzles for awhile and every now and then I would find one or two in the back of a monthly publication. Finally, I have a whole HUGE book of challenging puzzles to play. I have hardly put this book down since Christmas and I am still only on the beginner 12 x 12 section. This makes the regular 9 x 9 puzzles seem so boring. I bought two of these books and gave one to my sis-in-law and she and my brother are both now hooked as well!

4.0 out of 5 stars Puzzles interesting, arrangement bad, May 2, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Super Sudoku: 200 Extra-Large Japanese Number Puzzles (Paperback)
After finishing both volumes of the Independent book of Super Sudoku I was looking for more big puzzles-- not easy to find. After doing the Independent book of Super Sudoku, this was a big disappointment. Instead of dividing big puzzles into numbers and letters, they do all numbers. This makes a huge difference as it is almost impossible to take notes or keep it neat with double digit numbers. Going back did you write a 1 and a 2 or did you write a 12. The Independent book obviates this problem by using no double digit numbers. The puzzles are great, the arrangement is terrible.
