4.0 out of 5 stars Great country-tinged rock collection, May 24, 2004

This soundtrack, like the movie, rules. Everyone else that's reviewed it only talks about that Bubbles song, probably because it's so unlike anything else on the CD. I personally like the whole freakin' thing. You've got the legenday .38 Special weighing in with their original tune "Trooper with an Attitude," then the rest of the soundtrack are tracks from great (though less well-known) country-influenced rock bands and straight-up rock/metal groups. There's a handful of songs from Southern Culture on the Skids, two from Nashville Pussy (who's great!), and "Bad Apples" by Royal Fingerbowl (the soundtrack of choice for the relaxing bada$$). Then you get to the really great stuff: two HILARIOUS songs by Steak (do any other Steak recordings exist?!?!), and two from The Unband, whose CD I picked up on the strength of this soundtrack. Think Motorhead, think Speedealer, think Zeke. Think you got it? This soundtrack is not only awesome, but it's also one of the few soundtracks where all (or most) of the songs were in the movie, worked in context of the movie, sound great on their own, and remind you of your favorite scenes in the movie. Awesome.

The song-Bidibodi Bidibu is from the Porsche chase scene when they pull over the swingers. This song is cool to blast in you car. I love all the songs on the CD, of course I loved the movie and if you did too....You'll love the CD.

The techno-ish rhythm of this song would definitely move some bodies at a party. If I couldn't download this I would buy the whole album just to have it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Super tunes, November 28, 2008

One day while channel surfing, I stumbled across the tail end of Super Troopers on Comedy Central. It looked funny, but actually it was the raucous, anarchic song "Pink Slip" by The Unband, played during the rolling credits, that truly made a huge impression on me -- so much so that I bought the "Super Troopers" soundtrack without having seen the entire movie. I'm glad I did, too, because this is one of the best soundtracks I've heard, with mostly fringe artists whose music I normally would have never discovered.

The aforementioned Unband also have another formidable rocker on this album, "Geez Louise," which makes me want to discover their sound further. In fact, if you like The Unband, check out The Pinheads' album The Good, the Bad & the Pinheads from 1993. The two straightforwardly hard-rocking bands are so close in sound it's scary.

Elsewhere on the "Super Troopers" soundtrack, the gun-happy Nashville Pussy are like a southern-fried AC/DC on steroids, with entertaining and in-your-face lyrics to boot. Southern Culture on the Skids, another band I've always heard about but never actually heard, have four fun songs on the CD, two of them devilishly quirky and two of them pure country-rock gold. In fact, Southern Culture's harmonic "King of the Mountain" may just be the best song on "Super Troopers."

It's interesting how the ZZ Top-like tune on the CD by the most commercially successful band, "Trooper with an Attitude" by 38 Special, though good and containing a bit of an edgy bite itself, is so quickly forgotten amid the lesser-known bands who dominate. The Johnny Cash-like flavor of this CD really seeps through from bar-room-hopping country bands like Steak, the Jack Grace Band and Royal Fingerbowl. Surprisingly, the album gets an interesting blast of pure electronic house music from Bubbles' "Bidibodi Bidibu," but weirdly, it's a slight interlude that doesn't break up the overall comfortable, down-home feel.

All in all, this is a fun and energetic CD full of swagger, comprised of original, ultra-talented bands who deserve all the recognition they can get. As for me, I'm just glad I was flipping through TV channels at the exact right moment.

i love this cd! i got it for my husband solely for the song 'big bear', but we like almost all the songs on it. many of them have almost a 'southern indy rock' kind of sound to them, if there is such a thing :), even though the movie is about guys up north.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Movie Ever, January 1, 2006
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Super Troopers (Audio CD)
And the soundtrack kicks ass too. Every song in this movie is some great Classic Rock/Country/Hard Rock song, but mostly like Southern Hard Rock. Trooper with an Attitude is a kickass song at the beginning and at the end of the movie. the Nashville Pussy songs rock too, same with The Unband.
