Customer Reviews

The Bolse 7 port USB 3.0 hub is an excellent way to expand/add more USB 3.0 ports to a computer.

All of the devices you plug in share the bandwidth of the port you connect them to, but the independent power source means they can all be charged or powered at once.

Currently, it's a 5 star product for me which was supplied by LowerPriceUSA for an honest review.

This is a nice USB 3.0 port multiplier and it works well in some applications. You really need to understand the limitations of such devices when using it with your computer and external devices. A port multiplier splits the communication rate and power from the USB port to allow it to be shared with the four ports on the hub. In the case of power, a USB 2.0 port can supply 500 milliamps of power and a USB 3.0 port can supply 900 milliamps that will be split 4 ways if you have four devices plugged in.

If your devices are self-powered by their own power supplies you should have no problems. Devices like printers, scanners and some USB Hard disk drives (With external power supplies) are examples of this. In my testing I used a USB powered hard disk drive (HDD) and three USB memory sticks. When I plugged in the port expander all four devices where present in my computer drive list then they disappeared one at a time by themselves and then the USB 3.0 port stopped working I had to disconnect the hub and reboot my computer to get the USB port on the computer active again.

In the example I used for testing, all four devices require power from the USB port to operate and as a result issues occurred. Low power can result in memory loss or the improper writing and reading of data. Using one of these devices or two worked but then it is not a fully functional port multiplier if the power requirements exceed the power capabilities of your computer's USB port like when I was trying to use 3 or 4 devices simultaneously. Had I used my example of a self-powered scanner, printer, a USB HDD with a power supply and a memory stick then all would have been working fine.

The unit is nicely designed and lightweight for portability weighing only 2 ¾ ounces.

The more devices that I purchase; the greater my need for a solution like this. The Bolse SuperSpeed 7 Port USB 3.0 HUB has a very sleek looking design, and is very easy to set up.

I'm always in the need for extra USB ports, and this little device fits the bill perfectly. It enables you to take a single USB port and convert it into a 7 port hub. The top right section contains 2 ports for charging, while the remaining 5 ports are in the front. The top mounted ports enable you to plug in devices that might need a little extra room. When each port is in use; a light will display, indicating that the port is in use and functioning correctly.

Prior to my using this item; I had all sorts of wires hanging out the back of my computer. They were rigged up to several daisy-chained USB hub's, making my work area look like a power station. I've tested the Bolse hub with several different devices, and it works perfectly with all. Ironically; the only thing that bothers me is the power supply plug. It's on the large side, which means that if you have several other items plugged into a surge protector; it may not fit. In my case; I didn't have this problem, as I own a surge protector that enables you to separate all of the various outlets. Just be aware that this might be an issue if you're using a conventional surge protector.

The bottom line is that this hub is well designed, very sleek looking with its shiny black exterior, and functions perfectly. It's definitely a 5 star product.

Size Name: 4 Port Portable USB 3.0 Verified Purchase
My first problem is the size of this, this must be a desktop model, because it's too big for travel in a briefcase. They could have made it 1/4 the size. If you've used the Belkin USB 2.0 4-Port Ultra-Mini Hub you'll be surprised at it's size. This Sabrent 4 Port Portable USB 3.0 Hub suits my needs much better.

My next problem is why do they use a thick, inflexible cord with an end that sticks out twice as far from my laptop than the next one? Flexible is convenient, as is the end not sticking out 2 inches like a thumb drive.

I'm disappointed with this product because I purchased it for travel. For desktop use with an added extender cable it's fine, but it's too large for travel. I hope that I have helped you make your decision on this product, either way.

Size Name: 4 Port Portable USB 3.0
This is a very decent looking, compact and useful mini USB hub. It is meant to add three additional USB 3.0 ports to your computer. The USB 3.0 ports are backward compatible with the USB 2.0 and USB 1.0 devices. The hub, however, does not come with an external power source, something that is common for most high-end USB 3.0 hubs I've used and reviewed.

The ports seem to be working as advertised. I've only tested this hub with my Mac computers, although it should be compatible with Windows and Linux machines. The transfer speeds seem to be within the parameters for the USB 3.0 standard, although I have not done any precise quantitative benchmarking. The hub is made of plastic, but it seems durable and well-made. It is compact and easy to carry around - it's about twice the size of a larger USB stick.

This product is particularly suitable for people on the go who have several new USB 3.0 devices. It helps you attach all of your high transfer rate devices while you are away from your desk. If you are a photographer or a videographer with a knack for using the fast USB 3.0 external hard drives while you are out shooting, then this hub will be ideally suited for you. It can also serve the purpose of attaching the USB devices to your desktop at home, but its short cord means that you will have to connect them in a very tight little space close to your computer.

Overall, this is a useful and effective small USB 3.0 hub.
