For those of you who are obsessed with researching a product before buying, like me, let me do you a favor. Purchase this one and you will be happy. I've gone through the Jawbone, the ClarityHD (by Monster) and this, with there being absolutely no contest. This thing might not be as portable as the other two, but man it sounds fantastic, has an incredible battery life and produces some amazing bass for its size. I may still keep the Jawbone for business trips, going to the beach, etc. but for room-filling sound around the house - its all about the disco.

The DISCO is a Bluetooth-connected speaker bar from SuperTooth, a French company that has manufactured more than 5 million sound-related gadgets from its R&D lab and factory in the Philippines. (I bring that up because... hey... Pinoys gotta represent!)

The Disco is 12" long, 2-1/2" deep and 3-1/2" tall. It weighs about 3 lbs, with case and adapter, and uses a relatively straightforward "sound bar" design with two forward-facing speakers and a neodymium woofer. It uses Bluetooth A2DP 2.0 to wirelessly link with your compatible device. It also includes a standard 3.5 mm stereo jack to connect non-Bluetooth equipped devices to the unit.

The Disco has a control wheel and panel on its right face that toggle the functions of the sound bar and gives you control over your Bluetooth linked media device. You can adjust volume, play, pause, move forward and back, as well as tweak your bass settings with a button that boosts the power going to the woofer.

Supertooth includes a sturdy padded neoprene case to protect and carry your speaker. The lid folds back underneath the case and the Disco can be used while still in the enclosure. The case includes a pull out flap in the back to give you access to power and audio ports, and a grill that allows the subwoofer to breathe.

Pairing the Disco with a compatible Bluetooth device is fairly simple. With the device off, you press the power button for 5 second. When the power light switches between blue and amber, the Disco is now discoverable. You then instruct your Bluetooth device to connect to the Disco, using the standard (and completely useless) "super secret to anyone who has never heard of password security" PIN of "0000".

Read other positive reviews for basic info, I agree with pretty much all of them. Here's why I endorse this dynamic BT speaker...

I've personally tried out three other devices in home (Soundfreq Soundkick , Bose SoundLink, and the Logitec Boombox) and what makes a BT speaker truly around-the-house portable? In my opinion it is three features: ease to carry, performance on it's battery and size. My search quickly went down to two because the Soundfreaq and the Logitech performed noticeably worse unplugged.

So far as potability the Disco has it in spades. The only consideration is it does has a long footprint such that some ledges or counters will be a tight fit for it's "soundbar" design. When bringing it out of your home the neoprene case is brilliant. Sturdy protection with access to it's many ports plus the front opens so it may be operated while nestled securely in it's case.

I was going back and forth between this and the Bose (an amazing product yet twice the price) when an unexpected feature trumped everything...standby mode. I cannot comprehend why this feature is so frequently overlooked. It's so convenient. The Disco automatically sleeps when it isn't receiving a Blue Tooth signal. When I play my media it instantly comes to life. As a result I don't have to fumble with the speaker turning it on or off. It's just always there for me. And on standby it uses very little power. Sure there's a slight hiss and an occasional pop going into and out of sleep...It's a small price to pay for not having to cross your room to turn the device on each time you wish to use it...

That was the deal breaker for me. The Bose, at almost three times the price, could not overcome the lack of convenience despite by having a small edge in sound.

This is a full product review so I appologize for the length but if your like me you will appriciate the detail.

Let me start by saying I am well versed in most of the portable speakers on the market, I spent about a week researching before I made my decision. The most helpful websites I found were Cnet reviews and here on Amazon. After reading every review and comparing every feature of all the best portable speakers for me it came down to two speakers the Logitech S715i and the Supertooth Disco. Both these speakers were well priced, both were portable enough for what I needed, and both had gleaming reviews on their sound Vs their size so I decided I had to hear for myself before I made any decisions, I found out Best Buy carried the logitech but not the supertooth so I went in and sampled the logitech, I plugged my ipod touch into the logitech doc and was very impressed with what I heard, crisp highs, full mids and clean bass, I almost bought it on the spot! However I remembered one review saying when unplugged from the wall the sound was alot weaker then when plugged in, so I asked the best buy assistant if I could unplug the unit he agreed and true to the review the sound was decreased by about 3/5 the volume of when it was plugged in, my hopes of taking this to the beach and crankin some Bob Marley were instantly crushed! my mind was changed on the spot the logitech was simply not up to par without a power source to plug into, (after all the reason for buying these speakers is they are portable) at home I already have the energy take 5.1 surround set up so I needed something to go to parks, pools, bbqs without worrying where to plug in, so it was on to plan B. While I had no way of hearing the Supertooth up front the reviews said the sound was excelent so I gave them a shot.
