This is an astounding collection of high-level glamour, beauty, and art photography from one of America's most talented photographers of the female nude. Culled from what must be a massive archive, J. Stephen Hicks presents a superbly strong collection of nude pictures he's taken of some unbelievably attractive women. Do not take this title lightly - most of the models found in this book are truly beautiful. And they are all presented in all their natural, naked perfection. This work is not meant so much to titillate or excite (there is very little if any imagery that could be called sexual) so much as it is to inspire. If you are looking for hardcore, then you'll need to look elsewhere. But if world class glamour is your thing - buy this book!

How do you take one of the greatest glamour photographers of all time and try to fit a lifetime of work into a single book? There are some great photos in this book but unfortunately the images I liked the most are not always full page. Some of the images that were full page were not my cup of tea(like B&W). The quality of this item is very good with nice paper and printing. If you are a fan of Hicks, it is probably worth owning but the only way to know for sure is to browse with your own eyes. Since that is not an option here you will just have to take a chance. If you want a better value, join his website and download the images you like since everybody has their own opinion on what is beautiful. That way you get what you like and can ignore everything else. There were enough great images included to make me happy. It is possible that I may learn to appreciate all the others in the future.

This book is amazing. The models are indeed absolutely gorgeous. Some of these women are MORE beautiful than you normally see in Playboy. The pages are large and the pictures are excellent and very artfully done. I forget what I paid for it, but it is more than worth the money.

I've been a fan of J. Stephen Hicks' work for a long time now, and this book is a good example of his work. He does the two things I think are key for nude photography: he chooses very attractive models, and the goal of his pictures is to accentuate the physical beauty of the women, not to dress up a gimmicky picture with a naked girl. I have to say I was a little disappointed that this book didn't have any of the more explicit photos from Mr. Hicks (his book Digital Desire did), but this is still an excellent book. I got my copy used - as good as it is, I can't say I'd recommend paying $100+ to get it new.

If contemporary beauty is more your thing, be sure to check out "Superbeauty" by J. Stephen Hicks. (Edition Skylight) Hicks, you may recall is the West Coast photographer who brought us the modern day classic "Digital Desire" (and the website of the same name.) Unlike most compendiums of female beauty, Hicks really understands that the look begins with having exceptional looking models. While competitors often use a hodge-podge of women as their subjects and then try to make it up with provocative poses, wardrobe and post-effects, Hicks starts the process at the very beginning - with the talent. There's no doubt that working in Southern California gives the photographer a leg up in this department, but one also has to have the eye for beauty and know what to do with it. Hicks, who after being an assistant at Playboy and a protege of Philip Dixon, has moved on from the interior strobe shooting and avails himself as much as possible of outdoor settings, natural light (and natural beauty.) This book is a strong testament to the best of both.
