Activision was on the show floor of the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles displaying
Supercar Street Challenge--its brand-new racing game--and it looks almost as good and exotic as the real-world cars licensed for the title. Activision was showing cars made by Lotus, Bertone, and Callaway on a splendid track in Rome, complete with Coliseum ruins and narrow marketplaces. When the game is released, it'll also include tracks based in Los Angeles, Monaco, London, and Munich.
The most interesting thing about Supercar isn't the licensed vehicles, it's the fact that you can buy the cars in pieces--10 pieces to be exact--and then cobble them together into a custom racer of your very own. These components will really show off the realistic physics engine developer Exakt is working on. For now, the control looks excellent, the physics feel right, the game's graphics are outstanding, and Supercar Street Challenge certainly looks on track for its fall release.
