Activision was on the show floor of the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles displaying Supercar Street Challenge--its brand-new racing game--and it looks almost as good and exotic as the real-world cars licensed for the title. Activision was showing cars made by Lotus, Bertone, and Callaway on a splendid track in Rome, complete with Coliseum ruins and narrow marketplaces. When the game is released, it'll also include tracks based in Los Angeles, Monaco, London, and Munich.

The most interesting thing about Supercar isn't the licensed vehicles, it's the fact that you can buy the cars in pieces--10 pieces to be exact--and then cobble them together into a custom racer of your very own. These components will really show off the realistic physics engine developer Exakt is working on. For now, the control looks excellent, the physics feel right, the game's graphics are outstanding, and Supercar Street Challenge certainly looks on track for its fall release.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Game!!, January 12, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Supercar Street Challenge (CD-ROM)
When I bought this game from Electronics Boutique at our mall(Southpark Center),I wasn't sure about some things. When I installed it, it was awesome. I've unlocked all the cars in the game and all the tracks too and one of the best things is the SECERET SHORTCUTS!!! Some of them are very weird. At the long track in LA,once you're on the highway after the tunnel,in the wide left turn, turn right. You'll be on an industrial road. When you see the police cars, turn left into the oil refinery.Go around the huge oil tank and go straight ahead. You'll soon be in a train yard. Go around the box cars and turn left. Turn right at the ramp and go alongside the river. Imediatly, turn right at the tunnel. you'll be on a city street. Go down it and you'll re-enter the track at the start/finish line. There's also a weird one in Turin through the sewer system. At the long track at Monaco, there are two very weird shortcuts. one of them is through a car dealer an onto a sreet. After that, turn right imediately. Drive through the store lobby and hit the brakes to keep your car from flipping. Turn left trough the cones and drive down the ramp. Go through the hallway of the Monte Carlo Grand Hotel and you'll re-enter the race going through the window. It's a good game and a lot of fun if you have a high performance computer. I recommend this to all sports car racing fans!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great game if you have the right computer, November 21, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Supercar Street Challenge (CD-ROM)
When I first saw the ad for this game, I was amazed. The graphics were breathtaking and it looked very neat.

Recently, I purchased Supercar Street Challenge for the PC and I was disappointed. This was because I skipped over the system requirement which read: 16 or 32 MB video card required. I was hit by a suprise because my computer is a Pentium III with about 800 MHz and 128 MB of RAM. I only had a 1 MB video card. The game ran slow and the graphics suffered as a result of this on my computer.

In order for you to enjoy this game to its full potenial, it is a very important to have a very good idea of what you computer can and cannot do. If the computer you have works to the game's expectations, get ready for a great game full of action, stunning graphics, and the edge-of-your-seat fun.

The game is great for all audiences, kids to adults. The game features easy to master controlls and physics. Each raceway has its own unique shortcuts and sceney. The special effects are amazing, from pounding rain to lighting. Most of the locations, such as Rome and Paris, are so detailed that it looks as if you are really there. A must buy for a gamer of any age who is ready to take to the streets in an action-packed racing game.
