Follow me at jkowners.com known as asphalt assault for updates if I can't update here.
I have the pod too and it mounted better than stock. great piece. those with mygig nav will likely have buy an antenna extension to keep satellite interruption from happening. Does not come as a kit.
I had trouble with my shipment from overstock auto (amazon vendor) as they shipped the incorrect product. They addressed the problem professionally. Probably does not happen much.
As far as custom tuning goes, it lets you select from several different canned tunes to replace your factory tune with -- including performance tunes optimized for 87, 91 or 93 octane gasoline, and one they suggest using only when doing a lot of rock crawling and other low speed off-road driving. So far, I've been running the 87 octane optimized performance tune, and while I have had no problems with it? I can't say I notice much difference between it and the factory tune. (Of course, given the relatively small horsepower increase it claims to give, it's not really enough to feel with "seat of the pants" driving. You'd really have to put the Jeep on a dyno to verify the improvement.) I think I may be getting a 1MPG or so gas mileage improvement with it though. There is an issue with using this and the Dash PodSuperchips 38301 TrailDash Dash Pod for Jeep Wrangler if you have the factory GPS system inplace. The fix and update is all noted in the blog.
All the additional settings that are available are extreamly handy to have on the trail to monitor.
Only reason for the 4 stars rather than 5 on the review is the GPS issue and having to purchase and additional $15 part.
Probably a great unit for the latest generation jeeps but beware if you own an older model. I don't know who you can trust to get the straight scoop on you jeep.
