5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome
This is an amazing CD!

I am a native of austin Tx, and let me tell you, they took the music community by storm. You can't even find the CD in music stores, they've all sold out. Their remake of boys in the hood is better than Eazy-E's origional.

a definate for all music lovers!

3.0 out of 5 stars Green Day Meets Blink 182 meets Robert Smith from the Cure
For those of you you think that punk rock is still alive and well this album is for you. Upon my first listen to it, it reminded me of Green Day and a little bit of Blink 182. These guys have a pretty dynamic sound, thier lead singer can go from screaming to a mellow like voice that reminds me of Robert Smith. Boyz in the Hood is easily the best song on the album,...

An excelent album... definately worth the purchase. not only is boyz in the hood an excelent remake of the eazy e "classic", but the just about the entire rest of the cd just rocks... especially tracks 1-4 (Swithceroo, Anyway, Alvin, Dear Kate)... One of my favorite cds right now, and i expect it to remain that way for a while to come...

4.0 out of 5 stars Sounds like...?, May 26, 2000

I bought this cd for the remake of Boyz-N-the-Hood. its a great song and the soft acoustic guitar sound is fantastic. the rest of their songs use electric guitars and are a bit louder. there are some other great songs on the cd like "switcheroo", "dear kate", and track #42 ("anyway"). some of the other songs are subpar. if you like boyz-n-the-hood enough to listen to it over and over, i recommend buying the cd. and take a chance on listening to the other songs which will become their follow up hits.

The first time I heard "Boyz in the Hood", I was laughing so hard, I was almost in tears...that song is hysterical! Anyways, I went out and bought the album, (something I usually don't do when I only know one song on it) and I just let it play. This is one of the best albums I own, track #33 is awesome, and you've just gotta hear it! These guys are awesome, I saw them live in concert at Saint Andrews hall, they are so friendly, and willing to meet the fans (they signed my CD) they put on an awesome show, the audience gets really into it, and at the end of boyz in the hood, they sang Eminems Real Slim Shady song to that same soft acoustic sound, it was a riot, these guys ROCK!

5.0 out of 5 stars DYNOOOO-MITE, March 31, 2000

I love this CD - Weezer and Pavement fans listen up - this CD is for you! The band uses topics such as supermodels (Dear Kate), pro-sports (G-force) and arguments with girlfriends (Anyway) to propel you into their world. My favorite song is Oltram. And the "Boyz in the Hood" cover - it'll definately stick in your head with it's melodious and rythmic quirkiness. Check it out now before it releases nationally on May 23rd. Also look for them on Farmclub.com (tv show that airs Mondays 10p central) These guys made my day. Thanks Austin, TX!

4.0 out of 5 stars Get it for "Anyway", March 31, 2005
This review is from: Superfast (Audio CD)
Ok, I'll be honest. I don't really own this album. But I did download most of the tracks from it and listened to them. I wasn't expecting much, since I haven't heard anything from these guys from the late 90's, but there are some good songs on Superfast, and a few incredible ones. Their song "Anyway" is easily the best on the album. It's been a while since I've heard a song that completely hooked me, and that's what "Anyway" did. It should have been a hit long before the now cliched "Boyz-in-da-hood." I really think Dynamite Hack never really got their shot since their number one single was a cutesy rap cover. I know I wrote them off as soon as I heard it. But they're talented, and have a some pretty heavy songs. The next time I go to the used music store, I'm going to look for a cheap copy of Superfast. There's also a great piano/female version of "Anyway" that's hidden on the album. It's a beautiful song, and the woman singing it has a very good voice. She doesn't try too hard, and her voice is very sexy. I'd like to find out who she is. The point of this review is to give these guys a chance. I never did, and now I regret it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Get on this early!, May 23, 2000

Here's a golden opportunity for fans of alternative music to look terribly intelligent to their friends...recommend Dynamite Hack's "Superfast" now, before it becomes the hot CD this summer.

OK, everyone digs the "Boyz in the Hood" cover. It's everything else that seals the deal: songs like "Dear Kate", "Switcheroo", and "Anyway" are all songs that grab your attention at first listen and find permanent residence in your head by listen #30. They are loud enough to be cool, and the lyrics are funny enough to memorize.

In a couple of weeks or months, Dynamite Hack will be big time and the chance to be a musical sage will be lost. Why wait? This is the summer CD this year and it's already getting hot out!

Fans of Pavement or Sunny Day Real Estate will be impressed. CD goes from thoughtful ramblings, to punkish fast songs. If you buy this CD just because of "Boyz in the Hood" you won't be dissapointed.

4.0 out of 5 stars Who hasn't..., December 15, 2002
This review is from: Superfast (Audio CD)
Who hasn't heard "Boyz in the Hood"? Well, like alot of people I was curious about the band that decided to do a cover of a rap song. I knew a fan of the band and boy was she excited to tell me about them (her name was Kate). This CD is great! Awesome and simple rock hooks and a great overall sound. "Anyways" is fun to play, "Switcheroo" and "Wussypuff" are great rock songs. After listening to them they beging to sound alot alike but still holds solid. Even if the "Boyz in the Hood" song is the only acoustic track that stop the album's flow. (The piano version of "Anyways" is very pretty, too).

5.0 out of 5 stars Buy Superfast!, September 29, 2000

This is an awesome cd, but I wouldn't recomend buying it if you have only heard "Boyz in the Hood". Listen to their other single, "Anyway" because that is kind of what the other songs sound like. There are no other real light acoustic guitar type songs.I guess they just realesed "Boys in the Hood" to get attention because it was their debut album. If you've heard "Anyway" and liked it, go out and buy the album.
