After listening to this my only thought was 'Those are precious minutes of my life I'll never get back'
Lets face it, she can't sing. No matter how much the computer program 'auto-tune' assists her with the singing, its still the most bland, forgettable, pathetic attempt at music I have ever had the misfortune to ever hear. Id rather stick pins in my eyes then listen to this monstrosity.

Ignorance Is Bliss,

For the people who made such comments as "There is no doubt she has a solid singing voice", or "She spent 2 million of her own money, and 3 years of her life making this CD", there's a reason for this - And, I'm happy to read how many people are familiar with the reason, and actually refer to it by name - "Auto-Tune". She does not have a solid singing voice - It's Auto-Tuned beyond recognition. And, it probably took 3 years to knock every out of pitch note into key. Someone suggested the singing is all done on keyboard - You can do it that way, but Auto-Tune is typically used manually, to fix a pitch problem here and there, by actually dragging the notes on a keyboard grid, onto the right note. And assuming the singer was close to begin with, the effect isn't noticable. But, when it sounds like a robot singing (as is the case with Heidi), that suggests she wasn't even in the ball park, and when they moved the notes to the proper pitch, the difference was so great, you get that robot effect. It's almost sounds like a Vocoder (think Cher's last hit from 10 or so years ago) which is done with a keyboard. It's a shame what our youth today is willing to accept as talent or entertainment. Software driven vocals - Lip syncing (because Britney is a really good dancer, so who cares that I'm paying $80+ to watch her lip sync). I so hope we return to the days when musicians actually played an instrument, and could sing in key, and sing live.

So a part of me wanted for this album to actually prove to me that I was wrong about how awful it would be. Sadly, it definitely is bad....
The songs are slightly catchy, but many bad songs can be. Her singing isn't awful (at least she isn't tone deaf from what I can tell)...but all the songs sound so similar to each other and every song reminded me of another song by some other big pop star. For Heidi to really make it, she needs more originality as so many other good pop singers are coming out. Maybe remixes will be created out of these "boring" songs and something will come from it... Heidi may think it is a great as Michael Jackson's Thriller...but she needs to check her brain and sounds one more time...

Heidi Montag has burst onto the scene as a great new singer of the electronic/dance genre. Her songs are pure fluffy fun tailor-made for the clubs.
That said, this album is more of a 3.5 rating. Prior to this album, Heidi released many "hype" singles, several of which were 5-star material...and unfortunately, many are missing from this collection. What we do get is a hit-and-miss collection of songs, kicking off with the 5-star-quality "Look How I'm Doing". Produced and written by one of the biggest in the game and featuring Heidi ON TOP OF IT, the song kicks the album off with a bang! The album gets dodgy inbetween, but back on track by track 5 with another 5-star quality track in "More Is More." My friends and I always play it on the way to the clubs. A CLASSIC. :) "One More Drink" is a more midtempo track, but is great. Could see it fitting on Britney's BLACKOUT album. "My Parade" is a great marching band/cheerleader type anthem, which Heidi completely works! Rounding out the album are its best tracks: "Blackout" and "I'll Do It" are what truly steal the show and are easily the album's best tracks. "Blackout" recalls frothy beach-ready dance pop at its greatest, while "I'll Do It" showcases Heidi at her cooing Playboy bunny best. Overall: "Turn Ya Head," "Hey Boy" and "Twisted" would have been better off on the cutting floor. 5-star worthy hype singles like "Body Language." the classic "Overdosin" and the recent duel-released pair of "Sex Ed" and "Trash Me" would have made far superior inclusions. Despite the omissions, it was a great debut effort. I can only hope for an incredible followup. :)

Wannabe Like Paris Hilton, NOT BRITNEY SPEARS!!!!,

When it does come to to Heidi Montag, the so-called star of The Hills on MTV, it seems more as if she wants to be famous for nothing, just like Paris Hilton. Sad, but honestly no doubt about it true. SO when it feels like she has the independence to do everything, it feels like a big fat train wreck. That comes with the feeling of trying to be a wannabe singer with her debut record, Superficial. The songs here are just a bunch of wasted trash on the voice, and spending time with the ears listening to the record. Each track like the so-called dance rhythms of Fanatic, to the lackluster feelings of One More Drink, all the way to the end with Love It Or Leave It, is just all about being within dance music. Unfortunately, it is a displeasure at all from start to finish. It is such a shame that Heidi wanst to deliver as a singer, by thinking she is now trying to be like Britney Spears, and the rhythms of her record Circus. Yet, it feels like Heidi Montag is now trying to be the next Paris Hilton instead. I remember how disgraceful Paris's record was a few years ago, and how bad her songs were, and now I found a record that is even worse than what Ms. Hilton's record was. Don't even bother getting Heidi's Superficial at all. You're just wasting all the time in the world!!!!!

A Pathetic Attempt at Pop Stardom,
This review is from: Superficial [Explicit] (MP3 Download)
First off, I am proud to say I don't own this album. I only listened to the song preview on Amazon. I am an avid fan and collector of music and my collection includes everything from ABBA to the Zombies. I am also a prolific songwriter. I can safely assert that this collection of songs is probably the worst excuse for an album I've heard in years. The lyrics are just plain awful. On "Twisted," Heidi whines: "You want to strangle me..." I could not agree more. This poor woman has no concept of what constitutes a "pop star," which is so obviously what she desperately aspires to be. Even the Britney haters can't deny that Britney's an intriguing personality with a talent for dancing and flirting with the camera. Even the Paris haters must recognize from a critical perspective the pop merit several tracks on her album boast. Both women have certainly learned to work with what they've got in terms of making a name for themselves. Heidi, on the other hand, seems to be working with everything she wishes she had, rather than whatever hidden talent she may already possess. Increasing your bra cup size and adding layers of synthesizers and over-production to disguise your faltering vocals does not a pop star make. This album is embarrassing. It makes her seem like one of those girls from high school who thinks that if she wears her hair, dresses and talks just like the most popular girl in her class, she'll be popular, too. Unfortunately, she's become so nipped, tucked, siliconed and over-produced that the real Heidi seems buried underneath all that semi-glossy veneer. What's worse, is that she sings about being so rich and famous that all the other girls want to be her, but sadly, singing about it doesn't make it true. I don't know if she wrote these songs herself or what, but I actually hope she did. Otherwise there are at least two train wrecks out there trying to pass themselves off as "artists."

Not The Worst,
This review is from: Superficial [Explicit] (MP3 Download)
Yes, she is way over produced, way to auto-tuned and at times, uber annoying! But... there are some fairly good dance pop tunes here. The first two i liked I already had, "Look How Im Doin" and "Blackout" the first being something I could see Ashley Tisdale doing, and I actually love that song. And the second has just a good beat and a fun sort of sound to its lyrics. Now onto the rest of the album, I have a few favorites, they are as follows:
One More Drink 3/5: This sounded like a Britney song of the same name, and I like it enough sounds very Ke$ha. Twisted 4/5: Her voice is annoying as hell on this track, but the lyrics kinda rock. I think if Britney did it I would have given it a five. I honeslty just really love it! Hey Boy 5/5: This song is very Heidi shallow and cheap, but I loved it, I could see it beong played in the clubs. I'll Do It 4/5: I like the fetish theme of it, like ur willing to do anything, sexually, to please ur man, and have fun with it. Sexy. So the album is definitely hit or miss, but I don't hate it!

Heavily Synthesized, Auto-Tuned, Manufactured Vocals,

This review is from: Superficial [Explicit] (MP3 Download)
This is generic club music. The voice is so heavily synthesized and Auto-Tuned, you really don't know what Heidi Montag sounds like. It sounds like a poor imitation of Britney, Jessica and Ashlee all rolled into one. I caught an interview on GMA of Heidi a few months after her surgeries. The interviewer asked her to sing a bit and Heidi refused, saying her jaw was bothering her. She refused because she can't sing. I wish these reality stars and others of this ilk would not attempt record albums. Next thing you know, Kate Gosselin will be putting out an album of pop music.

Don't Believe the Fake Positive Reviews!!,

For those who gave this album 5 stars--the reviews have got to be from Heidi herself, or her husband and his friends. This has got to be the WORST I've ever heard. Every single song is auto tuned. Every.Single.Song. That should say something right there. She cannot sing, she cannot dance, she cannot act. Please let us forget who these people are--they (Heidi and her-soon-to-be-ex husband) have no talent!
