This is my first French singer CD and I love it. I heard "Superflu" a while back and fell in love with it. He's better than alot of American singers. Absolutely awesome.

Pascal Obispo is the best.,

This review is from: Superflu New 1997 (Audio CD)
The French music make a big step in the music world this year:- France are in the 3 best countries in the Techno championship with the states and the Germany. - The best DJ is an American but the second one is a French. There is many others examples but 5 years ago, the French music was totally out of competition. Pascal Obispo is part of this great improvement in the French music. I think that he is famous by his voice which is very special. Pascal write his music's and his songs that's why the voice fits perfectly with his music . In this album `superflu' he didn't write all his songs Zazi helped him a lot. In this album, Pascal begins with a rocksong (persone) and finish with a lovesong in duo with Zazi. All his songs are loves songs. The bests songs in this album are: Persone, Oû et avec qui tu m'aimes and Lucie. In many of his songs his music is played by a rockgroup with a piano, guitars, drums and bass. I liked a lot this album because I like his way to write music and to sing. In all his song, I like the chorus and he always make a different kind of music for each song. A lot of people likes him in France but the best for him is in the future because I think that he is going to make an international tour.

Mandatory contemporary French rock,
By A Customer
This review is from: Superflu New 1997 (Audio CD)
This just might be my favorite French rock CD of the '90s. The sound is a nice cross between Beatles-esque pop and Seattle grunge. "Où et avec qui tu m'aimes" is what everyone says it is below: a great song. Its equals are "Lucie" and "Les Meilleurs ennemis," the haunting duet with Zazie (his wife?). "Personne," "Il faut du temps" and "Eléa" are close behind, and I imagine all of these songs recieved extensive airplay in France. It's a shame that didn't happen in the U.S.; if we weren't such isolationists, one could easily imagine hearing these songs on the radio alongside Oasis, Nirvana, Stone Temple Pilots, Alice in Chains, Jeff Buckley, et al.

Pascal Obispo est un INCONTOURNABLE.Superflu is the third album of Obispo and it really shows how much he is talented. I hope he will make the entire world to know about his amazing talent! BUY HIS LATEST CD "SOLEDAD" INSTEAD,
By A Customer
This review is from: Superflu New 1997 (Audio CD)
I have to admit .... what prompted me to buy Obispo's "Superflu" was his latest album "Soledad". I bought "Soledad" first. The songs on "Soledad" definitely sound sexier and believe it or not, he sounds sexier too! I listened to "Superflu" once or twice, took it out of my CD player ..... and it's now collecting er, dust. It had nearly put me to sleep. Snore. I'm still listening to "Soledad" and it must be 20, 30, 40 times already maybe?

C'est Super (bien sur!) with Skillful Pop Melodies,
By A Customer
This review is from: Superflu New 1997 (Audio CD)
There has been some incredible music coming out of France recently. The days of bad French Rock (remember Telephone? I hope not.) are long gone, mes amis. Instead we have Pascal Obispo. Pascal Obispo's Superflu is an album of impressive artistic vision (although it does occasionally regress into Beatlesque cliches). There are some masterful melodies here. I must disagree with the narcoleptic's review of this. Songs like "Ou et avec Qui Tu M'aimes" and "Le meilleur reste a Venir" showcase Obispo's songwriting. If these induce naps, they are simply not your cup of cafe au lait. Obispo understands harmony and melody exceptionally well. The arrangements incorporate both sparseness and swirling orchestration in turns to great effect. Parts of this album are truly dazzling. French chanteuse and Obispo-collaborator Zazie really shines on the brilliant "Les Meilleurs Ennemis". Pascal uses orchestration to great effect throughout the album. I feel that this is one of the more interesting records of the 90's. If this kind of edgy but lush French pop strikes your fancy, might I also suggest Isabelle Caux's "Everest"? It is the masterpiece that this disc falls just short of being. Still, this is well worth your time and money. Quite remarkable.

A must have CD,

This is in my opinion one of the best French singers of all time (although my experience may be somewhat limited...) I picked up his CD on a recent trip to Paris and his passionate voice have kept me company ever since. I may not understand every word that is song, but that small point is easily overlooked. Just by listening to the intense emotion in his voice brings back memories....

Shame,
By Belisarius (France) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Superflu New 1997 (Audio CD)
As a French listener, and in the name of the French Nation, I adress myself to the Anglo-Saxon people to beg for their mercy. I solemnly declare I am sorry such a thing as an obispo song ever touched your kind ears, and my only consolation is you probably didn't quite understand the words. Then, I could say it's a fair revenge, considering for how long we've been blissfully listening to terrific sounding protest or love songs in English the translation of which would leave us abashed and amazed. Let me tell you, a song such as "Lucie" is the stupidest song ever written, and to hear and see the shaved halfwit sing it with deep expressions of suffering on his face makes me sick before I have time to laugh.
