not worth the purchase,

This review is from: Superfly: The True, Untold Story of Frank Lucas, American Gangster (Mass Market Paperback)
After seeing the movie American Gangster, I was really interested in learning more about the story of Frank Lucas and finding out what details of the movie were true or false. Unfortunately, this book was a big letdown. This book seemed to be fairly well researched, but the way that the author presents the information, he seems to have a personal dislike towards the story of Frank Lucas. However, worst of all, this book is very poorly written, with many grammatical errors. You would think that it would have been proof read before it was published.

THE REAL DEAL!!,

This review is from: Superfly: The True, Untold Story of Frank Lucas, American Gangster (Mass Market Paperback)
This book gave true facts on an amazing story in Harlem's history. While Frank Lucas has always been labeled one of Harlem's most notorious kingpins for decades, few people knew the true story behind who he really was. This was an excellent read and provided a lot of insight...the DVD was even better, I purchased them both. Putting out the truth is always met with resistence, but in the end it's worth it.
I look forward to reading more stories like this one from Street Certified Entertainment.

I'd seen the movie and then caught a documentary on the History channel featuring the real Frank Lucas. I found him to be very different than the Hollywood portrayal. This book stripped the gloss off of the story and told the truth. It's real. In my opinion, editorial slip ups are a small price to pay for authenticity. I'd rather deal with a few slips and read truth, than some pretentious pretend story put out by a major corporation. I kind of like the fact that this is an independent work because it clearly hasn't been tampered with to sell more books. There's a lot of stuff in here that you won't get anywhere else. I think I'm going to get the DVD too. Keep doing what you're doing Street Cred Entertainment. Bring more of our stories out.

These guys need a good editor. I was surprised and disappointed with the dreadful writing contained in this apparently self-published book. The grammatical errors and typos are so prevalent that I couldn't stand to even finish it. I assume that this book was rushed to print in order to capitalize on the recent release of American Gangster, as it reads like the 1st draft of a high-school term paper. Yes, it's really that bad, but I hope you don't waste your money to find out for yourself.

I was also inspired to read more about Lucas, after seeing the film...but what a let down!!! It was a jumbled mass of bits (hopefully researched)with no flow, and shocking grammatical and spelling errors. The text didn't correspond with the chapter titles and it seemed like a kid(uneducated) had written it. I can't get over that I've paid money for this. Don't buy it!!

This book was poorly written with many grammatical errors and misspelled words. The content was somewhat interesting, as it appears to contradict some of the movie "American Gangster."

This review is from: Superfly: The True, Untold Story of Frank Lucas, American Gangster (Mass Market Paperback)
This book is a winner...It is an accurate and detailed depiction of the real man behind the media hyped version of Frank Lucas and gives a birds eye view of many of Frank's illusions of grandeur. It is evident that the authors have gone through great researching efforts to find a lot of the information, a task that in this day and age of "keep your mouth shut" is very hard to accomplish...It is very sad to see that some people are unable to separate content from delivery and see this work for what it truly is. While it may stand a little editorial improvement, I highly commend Street Certified Entertainment for taking the risk of self publishing in the interest of getting such a poignant story out to the public...not many have the guts to go against the grain of mainstream Hollywood, only those with heart...SO instead of sitting home writing negative book reviews because of a missing comma or two (Brian C. Thomas, get a life... or better yet, write a book), readers should try to focus more on the story that is being told...the real story. This is a book definitely worth reading
