Matthew Williams' 3rd entry in The Lake Superior Mysteries, SUPERIOR DILEMMA sends Chronicle reporter, Vince Marshall to the Superior Sled Dog Challenge for the race for the gold cup. This year the cup is stolen from Perry Iverson's Gold Rush and the culprit seems to be Earl Parsons.
When Earl fails to show up at the sled dog check point and his dogs are later found tangled in brush a major hunt is on for the theif before the cold of a northern Michigan storm claims his life.
Vince's wife, Deb suffers a miscarriage while he is on the chase of his story and later their home is trashed. A fast moving story with plenty of dips and turns for the light mystery reader.
Nash Black, author of SANDPRINTS OF DEATH.

Another great book by Williams. Kept my interest during the whole book. Actually had a hard time putting it down. I recommend this book to anyone who likes suspense but not scarey.

I enjoyed all three books, perhaps this one the best. There is no blood and gore in these books, and yet they move quickly and with good balance. Nice reads.

This book was excellent and I enjoyed it immensely. The pastor was both a good Pastor with just enough humanness about him. He still was able to show God's forgiveness to man. I recommend this to anyone who wants some Christian mystery reading.

The storyline is fun but it tends to wander and drag at times. I read the whole series and sometimes lost track of characters.

The basic cast was appealing but the story meanders confusedly between past and future and characters whose identity I could not keep clear and soon came to be indifferent about. Haven't read earlier books in the series (own them) but don't think that made a difference. What bothered me was the profusion of characters easily forgotten and the lack of a clear cut problem with a clear resolution. There was a mystery component but it almost disappeared from view in the complicated interpersonal relationships , particularly the central one (outside of the hero and his wife), which never fastened a grip on my interest.
All in all, I think there is a good core of permanent characters and an interesting small town setting but also a need for stronger elements of mystery and more interesting people involved in those problems.

Like the other two books in this series, an enjoyable read---not great literature but a good way to bask in a Michigan winter.
