I was initially skeptical of this pump simply because of price. I typically pay over $150 for sump pumps of this type but the pump has performed flawlessly and effortless (so far) and beats the performance of ITT/Goulds pumps that cost twice as much. It quickly slings water from the sump pit!!! I particularly like the piggy-back switch arrangement. Most vertical switch pumps incorporate a single power cord that passes from the switch into the motor and makes switch replacement more difficult. This pump uses two power cords - one cord for the motor and a second cord for the switch. If the switch does fail, it can be replaced simply by replacing two screws in the bracket. While some may consider the two power cords an inconvenient arrangement [two cords must exit the sump pit - rather than one], the concept is great for troubleshooting because you can quiclky determine if you have a switch problem or a motor problem by unplugging the (male) pump cable from the (female) switch receptacle and plugging the motor cord into a "live" receptacle to see if the pump runs. If the motor runs when the switch cord is bypassed, the switch is defective. With a single cord automatic pump, it's more difficult to determine whether the switch is defective or the motor is locked-up.

My sump pump went out because something got caught under the tether float and it ran dry for too long. This vertical float pump solved my problem at significantly less cost than a direct replacement.

This is an excellent sump pump. The low profile base allows the the water to be pumped before the water level is very high. The pump itself is fairly powerful for its size. The smaller size of the pump makes it versatile for a number of applications.

My house was built in 1805. Needless to say, the basement is unfinished and I have two sump pump holes because water gets into the basement.

For about half a year, I had been struggling to adjust the flotation ball of my other sump pump so that it would turn on and off correctly. Given the small size of the hole and its shallow depth, I couldn't get it to work.

So I turned to amazon and found this model. The flotation device is attached to the actual pump. As the water rises, it clicks a switch, turning on the pump. Then, once the flotation device gets low enough, it shuts off the pump.

It works perfectly. Since installation, there has only been one time that the pump has wedged itself in the "on" position, which I fixed by better anchoring the pump in the hole. Buying this pump was way cheaper than making a larger, deeper hole.

Make sure to buy a check valve with the pump. This allows you to pump water up and outside of your basement.

And be smart - Home Depot runs out of these things during rainy season. Get yourself a backup, because they don't last forever. And the last thing you need is to be using a shop vac at 3 am during the middle of a rain storm, and then go to the store in the morning to find that they ran out of the pumps - again.
