5.0 out of 5 stars 'Superman' speaks to the soul
After hearing this song only once I was immediately impressed. Sure it's about Superman the character. But it's also about you and me. How we try to be strong day in and day out. Unyielding to obstacles, challenges and hard times. About never being able to give up completely. About how we all long to surrender ourselves to an innocense that has long passed. Everytime I...

2.0 out of 5 stars Good song - horrible voice
It's not that I have a problem with the song, the song itself is good, it's just the singer's voice that I find totally annoying. I don't like his voice at all.

Unyielding to obstacles, challenges and hard times. About never being able to give up completely. About how we all long to surrender ourselves to an innocense that has long passed. Everytime I listen to this song I am moved by how much we all have to offer and reminded how fragile we are when feeling alone and separate. I recommend this highly!

4.0 out of 5 stars Not Easy To Be The Man Of Steel, Huh?, July 13, 2002
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Superman (Audio CD)
I must admit that my real predilection in music are film soundtracks. I almost never buy CDs of any other kinds of music; I only buy CD singles, or cassette singles, of a particular song from a particular singer or band.
"Superman (It's Not Easy)" by Five For Fighting is one of these cases. This is a terrific song. When I first heard it, I was puzzled yet attracted to the lyrics, which I got to understand in an 80% (I had to download the remaining 20% from the Internet to understand it better). Wow! The lyrics of that song are truly original: well, imagine Superman wishing to continue being Clark Kent, or a common human being, because he's tired of saving the world everyday, tired of wearing the same funny, silly costume, etc. Wouldn't you just want to have a break from all that and get a life?
The original album version is here on this CD single, as well as a live acoustic version, but the other two songs that fill up this single are not as good as the one dedicated to the Man Of Steel.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superman song reminds me of baseball and love, February 6, 2003
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Superman (Audio CD)
"superman" is a song that tells lifes not easy, it is built very deep in thought and is constructed with various guitar/piano solos. Wounderful voguls by John.O on describing how you wish you could stop being this super natrual dude for one day and be normal for a change. It also explains how being a great known hero can have it's own sets of ups and downs.
This remimds a lot about my favorite team in baseball the METS!
They had their own sets of ups and downs during the season. It reminds me of love because it describes my favorite person in the world and how he might feels sometimes #31. Great song with a lot of meanings, see if it connects some how in your life, sure did in my.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant Song, September 10, 2005

For 3 minutes and 45 seconds this song will pierce your hard outer shell. It will strike a chord deep inside you and make you realise that you are only human yet at the same time you are equal to the man from Krypton.

When I first heard this song, it nearly made me cry. With the sheer honesty and tenderness of the lyrics combined with the soft melody it is one of the best songs I have ever heard. I listen to this song whenever I feel down and it allows me to just be me for a while, no hard shell, no brave face, just me and my feelings. It will do the same to you. I highly recommend this song and I would give it a million stars if the rating bar would let me!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Supeerman. It really isn't that easy., February 25, 2003

I was attracted to this song from the moment the first chord struck my ears. This is not quite lyrical genius but probably the closest thing you'll find in teen programmes like Dawson's Creek and Smallville(which is vey good by the way!). It really is one of those songs which is for all occasions. Listen to the lyrics, which provide a thoughtful introspect on the Man of Steel, or take in the piano rifts which themselves are steeped in a genuine emotion leading you to almost believe the struggles of the fictional title character to be as real as your own. It will jerk your tears or it will make you love your life. Either way this song is powerful stuff. Look beyond the flights and tights and you will find a song that you are almost guarenteed to relate to. Buy It.
