This is a great gift! Though it is sized "young adult", both my 3 and 5 yr old wear it comfortably and happily. It was one of their favorites under the tree this year. Size-wise, it just juts up a bit near the shoulders...but it still looks adorable and they don't care. The chest is soft foam, not hard at all.

Bought this and the Batman playset for christmas for our 4 year old superhero lover. He still puts it on about 3 times a week and flys through the house saving the day. Great dress up set that lets him have even more fun with his imagination.
Set says young adult size.......but it is ok for play on 4 year old..he can get it on himself just needs help to tie in the back. The ties are starting to tear a little as he trys to take it off without untieing it.
I think this set was worth the money and would purchase more of them if they became available in different superheros.
I had to add to this, it is now almost 2 years later. My 4 yr old is 6, his brother is 3 and sister is 1 1/2. They ALL play with these costumes. I have not had to fix anything on them, the ties are pulled some but we just tied them loosly and the kids just crawl into it. They have a blast with these. Wow, I just realized what a truly great toy this is... NO BATTERIES!!!, it has been played with a lot (and not gently, this is superman and batman after all!), it's still is in good condition and my kids (all 3) all still like them. They also get a lot of exercise playing these superhero's, saving the day and all. Buy these. When my kids friends come over, they like to dress up in these too.
I purchased these at Christmas 2003, it's now 2011..Wow! Time flys. That 4 year old is 11. The 9 year old is big time into legos and my 7 year old girl is now more of a princess than a superhero. I finally retired our superhero costumes last fall. The chest plates went to goodwill so some other children can enjoy them. Yes, they were in used, much loved condition but I think they still have years of play left in them. I couldn't part with the capes. I have them tucked away for the next generation of superheros that come through my house. These costumes have provided me with wonderful moments of my children in them being nothing but imaginative, wonderful, fearless kids. The thought of these costumes still brings a smile to my face and wonderful memories.

I bought this for my grandson---it was not clear to me that it was only the chest piece, cape and boot covers. The belt is cheesy and flimsy. Not very happy with this purchase.
