Good Idea, Bad Figure,
By Joshua Chipman (Shelby, IA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Superman Returns Krypto Armor Lex Luthor (Toy)
You're probably scratching your head wondering where and when exactly Kevin Spacey wears this armor in "Superman Returns". Truth is, he doesn't - but this isn't the first time that a movie-based toy line has squeezed out extra figures of stuff not actually seen in the movies, not by a long shot if you count half the "Star Wars" figures Hasbro is putting out these days. The armor itself is based on the green exosuit Luthor has worn in the comics in the past twenty years, going all the way back to the days of Kenner's "Super Powers" toy line in the mid-'80s. And it was a fun idea to incorporate into the toy line, as it would have allowed for the play-scenario of pitting Brandon Routh's Man of Steel against a physical human threat for once; certainly the movie might have benefitted a little from it...
But Mattel screwed this one up. The chest-armor will not stay together, no matter how hard you try. The armored figure is also prone to falling down a lot because of the poor way its boots were constructed. My advice to you: put your money on the Arctic gear version of Luthor if you really need to have a bald land-obsessed megalomaniac among your Superman toys. Heck, the last gasp of the line, due out on shelves pretty soon, features longtime Superman foes Metallo and Mongul, who weren't in the movie either but do appear in the accompanying video game for the film. They certainly can't be worse than this wasted opportunity.

This review is from: Superman Returns Krypto Armor Lex Luthor (Toy)
If you are thinking of buying or already have bought a Superman action figure for your child, look elsewhere for a villian action figure. We bought both the Superman and Lex Luthor action figures. Superman gets played with and Lex, well, he's at the bottom of the toy box.
The green attachments are poorly designed. The costume is so bulky that if you attempt to move Lex, the Krypto Armor simply begins to fall off the action figure. Here's some good Superman action figures I recommend: 1. SUPERMAN RETURNS Kryptonite SMASH SUPERMAN Figure 2. Justice League Original Members Action Figure Collection with 7 Figures Check out my other Amazon reviews for toys, books and games for young boys! |
