3.0 out of 5 stars A big disappointment, there was little tension in the climactic battle, March 14, 2011

This review is from: Superman Vs. Aliens Book 3 (Comic)
After devouring the first two books in this trilogy I found the third to be a disappointment. At the end of the second book some of the aliens had invaded the Lexcorp space station orbiting Earth and Superman was battling a primary nest of the aliens on a domed city in space light years from Earth. The last event of book two was when Superman and Kara, a woman on the domed city, were captured by the aliens and infected with two of their young creatures. Superman has spent significant time away from a yellow sun so his powers have dramatically declined, making him vulnerable to the infestation.

The climactic battles that take place in both locations are rather muted as Lois Lane also fights with Kimble, a Lexcorp executive that wants to keep the aliens alive for study and potential profit. As he reaches the end of his powers and the alien inside him is about to exit, Superman is able to recharge and his body rejects the alien.

The basic premise of the story is quite good and the first two books in the series kept my attention throughout, yet this one came across as being very flat. Superman defeats the aliens, yet the tension level never manages to rise above a puff of hot air.
