Superman in the World's Finest,
By Rmando (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Superman: World's Finest Comics Archives, Vol. 1 (DC Archive Editions) (Hardcover)
This volume collects all of the Superman adventures from the World's Finest comics, which started off as the New York World's Fair comic and sold for a then very expensive 25 cents. These are the solo Superman stories (he wouldn't team up w/ Batman until years later). Unlike the other volumes, this one covers about four or five years since it was released quarterly and each cotained only one short Superman stories. This volume also contains the first cover depicting Superman and Batman together.
The stories are not much different than the Action Comics or Superman's own comic. The good thing is you get more supervillians in this one than the usual early 40's comics- Superman isn't just fighting gangsters or corrupt businessmen in this. There's the Insect Master for one, and Metallo as well as a few others. Dont know when volume 2 is ever going to come out, but this one is worth getting. |
