The Review To End All Reviews..., March 8, 2000
This review is from: Supermercado (Audio CD)
Alright, very honestly, before I bought this CD all I ever heard of the 2SJ crew, was whatever I could remember from "Riot Nrrd" which came out a few years ago. A friend of mine kept raving about them, so I decided to go out on a limb and make the purchase. Surprised was I as I listened to the addicting grooves and pure energy released by these cats. Totally unreal, it was something like I hadn't ever really heard before. Their lyrics go from smart and silly, to funny and witty, and back again. They blend humor with just the right overabundance of skillz to make an incredible album. Some of my personal favorite tracks to check out are #6 "The Whammy", #10 "Riot Nrrd", #9 "The Good, The Bad, & The Skinnee", and gosh, like everything else too! If you expect them to be like Rage, they're not. 311, is arguable (i'm not a big 311 fan myself). Beastie Boys, yeah you're getting a little closer. 2SJ are in a league of their own. But trust me when I say that this album was worth more than its weight in gold, pie, and waffles.

From underground to well deserved recognition, September 30, 1999

The 2 Skinnee J's newest CD, Super Mercado, truly pulls together their abilities in their genre of fusion/rock/etc.. This CD being their first major record release they improved upon a few tracks from their previous indie album, Return of the New and Improved, and really proved themselves worthy of coming under the public eye. Before this, 2 Skinnee J's were an underground group making their CD's themselves and performing in NY, Philly, Atlantic City, and other places. With this release, which basically displays their intelligent lyrical nature (references to Homer's Odyssey et al) and creative musical style, they will hopefully see that the public wants MORE!

The good, the bad, and the Skinny., May 11, 2001
These guys rule. Heavy urban beats with, wait... ...what's this? Intelligent and uplifting rap lyrics. Damn that's crazy. Eclectic, yet all to familiar.
