5.0 out of 5 stars The Review To End All Reviews...
Alright, very honestly, before I bought this CD all I ever heard of the 2SJ crew, was whatever I could remember from "Riot Nrrd" which came out a few years ago. A friend of mine kept raving about them, so I decided to go out on a limb and make the purchase. Surprised was I as I listened to the addicting grooves and pure energy released by these cats. 5.0 out of 5 stars The Review To End All Reviews..., March 8, 2000

Totally unreal, it was something like I hadn't ever really heard before. Their lyrics go from smart and silly, to funny and witty, and back again. They blend humor with just the right overabundance of skillz to make an incredible album. Some of my personal favorite tracks to check out are #6 "The Whammy", #10 "Riot Nrrd", #9 "The Good, The Bad, & The Skinnee", and gosh, like everything else too! If you expect them to be like Rage, they're not. 311, is arguable (i'm not a big 311 fan myself). Beastie Boys, yeah you're getting a little closer. 2SJ are in a league of their own. But trust me when I say that this album was worth more than its weight in gold, pie, and waffles.

4.0 out of 5 stars From underground to well deserved recognition, September 30, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Supermercado (Audio CD)
The 2 Skinnee J's newest CD, Super Mercado, truly pulls together their abilities in their genre of fusion/rock/etc.. This CD being their first major record release they improved upon a few tracks from their previous indie album, Return of the New and Improved, and really proved themselves worthy of coming under the public eye. Before this, 2 Skinnee J's were an underground group making their CD's themselves and performing in NY, Philly, Atlantic City, and other places. With this release, which basically displays their intelligent lyrical nature (references to Homer's Odyssey et al) and creative musical style, they will hopefully see that the public wants MORE!

These guys rule. Heavy urban beats with, wait... ...what's this? Intelligent and uplifting rap lyrics. Damn that's crazy. Eclectic, yet all to familiar.

4.0 out of 5 stars greater than the sum of the parts, December 2, 1999

this album is definitely worth checking out, especially if you're familiar with their earlier recordings--the quality is so much better, and helps to convey the defining energy that is inevitably lost in the studio setting. to fully appreciate this band, though, you HAVE to see them. i've been to several shows over the past few years, and have yet to be disappointed! hopefully 2 skinnies will revamp other great hits like bbq and artificial flavors...we'll miss you, andy!

5.0 out of 5 stars By far the best Skinnee album., August 18, 2003

This is by far the best Skinnee album. This is the one that made me fall in love with the J's.
I feel their newer albums got away from the original Skinnee that made the crowd jump and never want to leave a live show.
This album and the way it mixes the rock and rap will stay in my CD rotation forever.

This album is absolutely unbelievable. The lyrics are incredibly well-crafted, it is a thing of beauty for sure. The only song for the J's that even earned them remote popularity is Riot Nrrrd, which really could serve as the anthem for the CD and the band if The Good, The Bad, and The Skinnee wasn't there to put all other songs in their place. There is simply not a bad song on this CD. Buy it, listen to it, look up the lyrics in Webster's, then know why they are the best lyricists on the planet.

I downloaded Riot Nrrrd on napster one day, after recalling hearing them live on HBO a while ago. I downloaded, loved it, and then bought the cd. It was even worth the riduculus "mall price" of almost 20$. Great songs are wild kingdom, ball point man, youre a champion, 718, riot Nrrrd and organic machine. And if youre in to underground music I also have to recommend Spy who is making big sounds as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Supermercado: An Irresistable Force!!, December 17, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Supermercado (Audio CD)
I first caught the J's live show three years ago in Baltimore. Within seconds of them hitting the stage I was mesmerized by their superior sound and stage presence. They are trully the most entertaing and impressive act I have ever seen. Anyone who appreciates hard working artists who go all out for their fans MUST SEE THEM LIVE! Now the J's reward us with Supermercado. The revamped '718' is incredible and 'The Good, the Bad and the Skinnee' could make everyone a fan. While I miss the high energy and fun tracks like 'Irresistable Force' and 'BBQ', the J's have packed their debut album with all the hits and energy they can. After you read these reviews and purchase this album, I recommend that you check out their websites for tour dates and see them live. See them now in the small clubs before you have to pay big bucks to see 'em at the arena. Jump aboard the 2skinnee Bandwagon. Long live the sound of J!
