1.0 out of 5 stars Damaged
I ordered four seasons of a show, one season had damage so bad portions wouldn't play and the cover had significant flaws. Another season, the binding for the dvds were broken. They were all supposed to be new. Gave them as gifts and didn't find out they were damaged until later and emailed the seller twice, and received no reply or remedy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hip, Fun, and Spooky, November 16, 2009
This review is from: Supernatural: The Complete Seasons 1-4 (DVD)
Supernatural tells the story of two brothers (Dean and Sam) who experienced the loss of their mother at the hands of a malevolent spirit who likes to tack his victims to the ceiling before engulfing them in flames!

The show could loosely be classified as supernatural horror. Some of the shows are more fun, and others are quite spooky. The brothers each bring a different appeal (Dean being the bad boy loner, and Sam being the clean college driven by revenge). Both actors (Jensen Ackles, Jared Padelecki) are outstanding, working well off each other and the clever scripts.

Each episode is an introduction to some new evil (from dopplegangers to ghosts to anything else you can find in a dusty text on creature lore). Besides making the world a better place, the brothers are also seeking revenge for both their mother and a girlfriend (ah, poor Jess). The closest thing I have seen on TV to Supernatural was the original Kolchak: The Night Stalker series way back in 1974.

If you're looking for a fun and sometimes spooky show starring two excellent young actors, pick up the Supernatural series. Highly recommended!

Written by Arthur Bradley, author of "Process of Elimination" - a thriller that pits a martial artist against a world-class sniper out to shape the presidential election.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous underrated show -- Don't miss it, September 28, 2009
This review is from: Supernatural: The Complete Seasons 1-4 (DVD)
I discovered this show recently. It had some things going against it. The CW -- 'nuf said. Relatively unknown leads and it's in the horror genre, which at least for me, was a turn off. I fear it might be a turn off for some other women as well, since generally that genre belongs to the boys.

Please don't let any of this keep you from this gem of a show. The horror aspect is a device to tell the story of two brothers and their father who need to face the demon that destroyed their lives when the boys were very little. In the pilot we learn that when the youngest, Sammy, was an infant and the oldest, Dean, was four years old their mother is killed in a horrific way that includes a fire in Sammy's nursery. Dean takes his baby brother out of the house on their dad's instructions and thus starts a family dynamic of caring and responsibility that continues well into adulthood.

The show brings humor and snark, pathos and energy, cool creatures and spine tingling suspense. But mostly the show brings these fully conceived men to life -- fears, faults, broken psyches and impossible promises. Yet the single most compelling aspect is the love between the brothers, played with subtlety and nuance to perfection by the show's highly talented leads Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki, who inhabit their characters so completely that as a viewer every punch (both physical and emotional) is felt. Jeffery Dean Morgan portrays their father and when all three are together your television will hum.

Anyone who enjoys tightly written subtly played drama, fun single episodes interwoven within fantastic, epic-scale grander arcs and characters that grow organically as the seasons progress will find much to love in this show. Plus, if you are like me and really appreciate continuity and consequences then this show will never disappoint. When something happens, it sticks. Just like real life.

I absolutely love this show. It is about two "monster hunting" brothers (who are just gorgeous, which is a bonus), who travel around the country and seek out the strange and the dangerous. The mythology in the show is fascinating, they have their own take on such well known monsters as ghosts, vampires, witches, and werewolves, and also some that aren't touched on as much, such as the windigo, hell hounds and shapeshifters. Throw in a ton of interesting myths and legends and some pretty darn good action and acting, and you've got a heck of a good way to spend some time. Just wait until the demons and the angels show up!

5.0 out of 5 stars Who ya gonna call? I'm putting Sam and Dean on Speed Dial, October 29, 2009

Forget Calling Ghost Busters, if you have troubles with Ghosts, Demons, Vampires, Ghouls or any other supernatural creature, you want to call Sam and Dean; these guys know how to kick monster butt and they are HOT HOT HOT! Hot Guys with a Rad Car, Classic Rock and cool monster effects will have you begging for more. Some of the guys involved with the production of Supernatural were also key figures in the production of the X-Files and you may see some similarities, however these story have a new dynamic edge to them, with Great Writing and State of Art Special Effects. Supernatural will have you checking under the bed for monsters and maybe even under the sheets for Sam or Dean (if only...).GREAT SHOW!

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this set (season 1 to 4), July 5, 2010

P.S. bought my set new from one of the recommended sites given by amazon, so got it cheaper, than what Amazon is selling for, so feel free to save and use a site they thoughtfully recommend.

Supernatural Season 1-4

First let me preface this by saying, If you are Wiccan, Pagan, Witch, or Christian, don't get your knickers in a knot. They used definitions of witches taken from tortured sources during the inquisitions, as well as b/s uses of certain herbs, and plants. It's only a movie, a Thriller series, and they take a lot of liberties for their storylines, and they trash Mythos across the board. But it makes the Spookies part work.
No frontal nudity, light on T & A, but done in a tasteful way, by way of the Plot progression. Most use T&A in absentia of actual an actual script or plot, and need it to keep fan attention. Not here, they have actual talent on hand.
I'll be honest, not all the stories are great, but hey, no series ever hits 100%. Some are quirky, there's a lot of humor, references to old movie one liners. This series is a treat.
It has gore, violence, creepyness, everything a good vs. evil story should have. And the blur between the two, is definitely highlighted in this series.
I bought this as a gift for a family member. I didn't think I'd like it, as I was somewhat obligated to watch, as a family share event (san's children) of course. I actually enjoyed this series. Two brothers with a mysterious past, fighting demons, witches, and all sorts of scary badies. Creepy possessed children. And of course Angels, with suspicious intents. I can't wait for season five to come out. It will be Kripkes final work. Season six someone new takes over.
The Brothers are fighting together to try and stop the apocalypse. The acting talent that comes forth is pretty awesome as well (some not so well but good out weighs bad). Plenty of hot babes for guys, and of course hunky stud muffins for the women. Truly creepy bad guys, and scary themes that make you go What the ****. Complete with the appropriate amount of gore, they even get some of the sigils correct. Alister the Demon is particularly well done. If your prone to nightmares don't watch. Always try before you buy. But this is definitely worth the price for the viewing pleasures, the laughter, the tragedy, the scare. It's fantastic. For this day and age anyway. If you enjoyed the Angel series, the Charmed series, The Merlin series you will love to watch this entertaining scare fest. The Demon killing Colt 45 is way, way out there, but still an inventive use of legend. Oh, some parts are really gross, so wait to eat till afterward. Padalecki and Ackles definitely make the Brothers interactions work in intense effect. As well as make the roles believable. Of course other actors in this series add to the Plot with their incredible skills as well. (Watch, you'll know the ones I mean, a few, very few of the actors suck in their roles, but as I stated, more good than bad, so all's right with the world.) hahahahaha Take Care.

I really don't know what to say Supernatural is just an amazing program and it really means a lot to me.
Not the best review i know but honestly if you're even considering buying this package do it, you wont regret it, just make sure you buy the 5th season as well because Season 4 ends on a cliff hanger.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT SHOW!!, December 3, 2010
This review is from: Supernatural: The Complete Seasons 1-4 (DVD)
I got hooked on this show when I bought Season 1 at a discount store. It is so fun to watch. Sam and Dean make the show fun with their sarcastic comments and brotherly love. Castiel was a great addition and can't wait to see more in the future. There's a great story line throught the series. If you haven't seen the show, start from the beginning at season one...it only gets better from there!

5.0 out of 5 stars BEST SHOW in the past decade or so!, October 22, 2010
This review is from: Supernatural: The Complete Seasons 1-4 (DVD)
This is the best show on TV at the moment. Say what you want about the CW but this show has some of the greatest drama, humor, and heart to it. Not to admit the superb acting. Had this show being on one of the bigger networks I would be sure the stars may have had greater chances at the Emmys. This DVD set is a must. The show really finds its footing midway through season 1 and explodes to shear greatness in season 4.
