More About the Author

Nicholas Knight has had a lot of fun writing the official Supernatural companion guides and The Essential Supernatural coffee table book, as well as articles for every issue of the Official Supernatural Magazine...but what he loves even more is writing fiction. Check out his work in such places as H.P. Lovecraft's Magazine of Horror, Mad Scientist Journal, Trailer Park of Terror, and Weird Tales. Better yet, keep checking this author page for new updates. Knight lives among bears and sasquatch in the Pacific Northwest, and is currently writing a series about a monster tracker. (Yes, tracker, not hunter. They're different. Okay, they're not, but the hero does spend time tracking down monsters before he hunts them...)

This guide covers season 3 of the hit WB series in which the clock begins ticking for Dean after making a deal with a demon to save Sam's life. The book examines each of the fifteen episodes from season three in great depth with cast, detailed plot synopses, production notes, and comments from cast and crew. There's also some amusing anecdotes from the set such as show Creatoer Eric Kripke talking about his real-life experience that inspired the maggot-burger scene in the episode "Malleus Maleficarum".

Throughout the book there are little "Did you know" side notes that provide sort of pop-up trivia bits about the show including the actual radio station that inspires the music that Dean and Sam listen to in their car. There are also notes that mention each of the classic rock songs used in the episodes. The season finale, "No Rest for the Wicked" is also dealt with in-depth with a special section on the episode which saw Dean dragged to Hell at the end.

There are sections which highlight and include interviews with the Special FX crew, property master, make-up staff, and a look at Supernatural in novels, comic books, and magazines. The book also features a 16-page color photo section. At 160 pages Knight packs in a surprising amount of material. I thought it was kind of slim but after reading it, there's a wealth of information in here for fans.

It's exactly what you'd think it is. A book with just a bit more info on the shows and episodes. As supernatural is my current vice, I'm really enjoying the book.

I actually have all 7 Season Companions that were written by Nicholas Knight and they are just a great addition to the DVDs. There is details on the behind the scenes happenings and music covered in each episode along with pictures, lots of pictures. I was so disappointed to find out that the network stopped financing the production of these books so there is no Season 8, or 9 and there will be no Season 10.

If you're a fan of the show, you'll probably buy this book anyway. It was a good read, with interesting facts, and many lovely photos.

As I read this companion book to Season 3, season 6 of Supernatural is currently filming. The book reminded me that the funniest episodes, and perhaps the best, were "Bad Day at Black Rock" and "Mystery Spot". It also made me realise that I'd forgetten the Bela character entirely. It was interesting to note that the show was forced to take on two female leads, and I really don't think that worked. Now that Eric Kripke has left the show, I'm quite worried. What made things worse was reading all the comments about what an asset he is to making the show work. I love this show so we can only wait and see what happens...

Excellent synopsis of and commentary on the 3rd season. I find these Official Companions much more enjoyable than the Supernatural novels.

This is a great companion book to go along with the show. Each episode has a complete cast list as well as the music featured in it. The book also contains other behind the scenes information and a one or two page description on each of the supernatural entities.
