Love as Supernatural Virtue not fluffy, feel-good theology

Dismissing God's commandment to love neighbor and enemy as optional, nice sentiment doesn't serve the people of God. It's interesting to see that love is considered fluffy by conservatives: Jesus has words for you in Matt 23. I know one church father that just wrote a fluffy encyclical titled "Deus Caritas Est". I suggest giving it a good read.
