Superpad Controller for Super Nintendo Entertainment System

The controller I received when I ordered this wasn't quite the one pictured. It was a Super Nintendo-COMPATIBLE controller by a company called the CKLA Group. It didn't have the colored buttons (which was good, as I wanted it to look more my existing controller, anyway), had lesser-quality colors, and was only marked "Super Pad" at the top center.

Aesthetics aside, it's slightly more lightweight than the original controller and the arrow pad seems a bit harder to move (though this may just be due to the years of use that I've given my current SNES controller - loosening it up through wear and tear.) Therefore, if you're a stickler for more sensitive controls, you may want to look to find a controller actually manufactured by Nintendo. If you can't, however, I think this one serves as a perfectly adequate replacement.

The Superpad Controller is the basic controller for the Super Nintendo. If you're looking for a controller with turbo or a different feel to it, don't get this one. But if you're looking for just the basic controller for your Super Nintendo, this is the one you want.

Buying this controller from Amazon is a good buy because it's worth the price and since the Super Nintendo isn't the most popular video game system anymore, it might be hard to find any Super Nintendo controllers in stores.

I believe I paid ten dollars for this controller so I could use it on my emulator. The thing is terrible. The D-Pad is clunky, and impossible to move diagonally on. The four buttons aren't any better either. Honestly, the only thing they didn't screw up is the start and select buttons. This is a horrible purchase. You'd be better off just going to a Game-X-Change and finding an old, real controller. I paid half of what I paid for this, and it's twice as good.

First I'll explain to you what my superpad looks like, as it's different then the one pictured. It looks very similar to the official Nintendo brand controller, the only difference being that mine has colored face buttons(red,blue,green and yellow), says "superpad controller" at the top and the start and select buttons are a little higher. There is also 2 big bulky circles on the back underneath the directional pad and the face buttons, and it says "interact" below the start and select buttons. There are no signs of this controller being cheaply made at all, and it seems to be about identical in quality to the official Nintendo brand inside and out. However, read on...

Now, for all the 6 or 7 years I've had this controller I never had a problem, but now it's got some major issues! You may be thinking "Jeez, 6 or 7 years with no problem is pretty good!" but considering that the official controllers last forever, that's really not that great. I suppose it makes it far superior to many other 3rd party controllers out there, but it's still not worth it if you can find an official one. Anyway, my controller now has buttons getting set off without them even being pressed! It seems to depend on the game which buttons get set off without being pressed, but needless to say my superpad is pretty much worthless now.

Overall, you could probably do much worse, but the Nintendo brand is proven to last, and if you can find one of those that's definitely the way to go. I'm sure that everyone is going to have a different experience with their superpad - you could end up with one that lasts longer, not as long or one that has problems from the start. This is just my experience with a single superpad controller after all, but official seems to always be the least risky.

This controller is an okay replacement for the original SNES controllers, but not as good. The reason why this controller is not as good as the original SNES controllers is because the buttons are not as sensitive to button presses unlike the original which have very sensitive buttons; the buttons after using them for several months or a little bit more start to sink down more inside the controller because the springs are not as strong as the ones in the original controllers are. In addition, they are made cheaper than the original controllers and are not as durable, so they will not last as long. My recommendation is to not buy these controllers and get refurbished original Super Nintendo controllers on (...) or the exact replica version because they use the same exact materials to make those controllers as Nintendo does for their controllers. The only difference is the exact replica's do not have the Nintendo logo on it. I got two refurbished original Super Nintendo controllers from that website and they work excellently and they will last for many years. And another thing about the New Port controllers, the first time you use them, the D-Pad buttons are rather stiff and eventually lossen up after using them for a while and become easier to use. A last warning about the controller, the down function on the D-Pad does not work very good, unlike on the original Super Nintendo cotrollers, the down function on the D-Pad works excellently.

At first I was not sure about buying these but the day I got them i plugged them up to see if they work & if they did how good. They work just as good the ones that came with my system. They are at a great price.If you need controllers for your super nintendo buy these.

This is the best controller-type setup that I've seen. The nicest thing about it is that ALL buttons are within easy reach of your thumbs. No hand-removal here folks. Sony was SMART when they modeled their Playstation controller after this one. With that in mind, I feel that Nintendo made a GRAVE MISTAKE with their N64 controller. That controller prefers analog over the digital, buttons that are out of the way, and not to mention, it's as big as your face. No, the basic SNES controller doesn't have turbo or anything like that, but even the super-sized one is small when compared to Dreamcast and N64 controllers.

The controllers (2) I received were similar to the pics but did not come in a box. The quality and colors were pretty cheap and ugly when compared side-by-side with my original SNES controllers. I really bought these controllers for replacement parts (bumper button rubbers) to use in my original SNES controllers. Bumper buttons are not a perfect match (would require modification to an original SNES controller), but the rubber pieces under the bumper buttons, which is what i needed, was a perfect fit. I'll keep these around for other original parts that may go bad over time.

Received a controller which was not what was originally pictured (picture was colored button superpad). This is a cheap knockoff of the original, which I received completely DAMAGED. Will never order from this company again. Waste of my money and wasn't worth spending the money to ship it back.

My son has a SNES system but the controllers didn't workthe best. We have been looking everywhere for them. I got them for our son for a Christmas gift and he was so excited to have controllers that work. I was very pleased we got them when they told us we would. Excelent serice will use them again. Also the cords are longer making it easier to play.
