I did not purchase this player from Amazon, but I did get it off of Ebay. If you want to use the USB or SD inputs the video format that works the best is SVCD, the AVI formats mostly did not work with various codecs. Also, regular VCD format worked, but you could not skip through different chapters.

The unit is very light and the power supply or wall wart is a modern "switching" type like a cell phone charger. It has played all of my burned DVD+R discs without any skipping or freezing.

Funny thing though, the unit is supposed to be set to REGION 1 or USA, but it will not play any rented or purchased DVD discs. But will play a burned image of the same disc.

If anyone knows any Supersonic region codes, please help.

I can confirm this will not play region 1 encoded DVD's from the USA. Supersonic has not responded to my email about this. It does play burned DVD+R, SVCD and some AVI files ok. I have had little luck getting it to play any common MP4 formats. It does work with a portable USB hard drive and SD card, but is difficult to find files on a disc with many file folders and files. It doesn't find them all, and only shows 8 characters of the file name.

I got it for the VGA output and portability to use with my AAXA p2 projector. I assumed VGA would provide better picture quality than A/V output. Theoretically yes, but the VGA connection is poor and suffers from a lot of electrical interference from the unit itself. Wavy electrical lines and static while playing a disc destroy the overall picture quality. The interference doesn't seem to be as noticeable with the A/V output. It's not the cable (tried more than one) it is from the unit. Switching from VGA to RCA is done manually and has to be done through a menu on screen.

Obviously built for a low price and not quality, the plastic feels cheap so I'll be careful packing it for travel. LED display on front edge shows elapsed time, etc. and is useful.

If you're looking for a basic portable DVD player, this is not it. If you want a MP4 player, there are smaller ones to choose from with flash memory. If you want to play your own SVCD's, DVD+r's, MP3, or MPEG files from disc or USB, then this will do the trick for a good price. Even just for viewing pictures from your memory card on your TV it works. I will find uses for it regardless of its misrepresented feature set (DVD compatibility)

I bought this t play DVD in my car.

I'm telling you, this is not for car, though it includes car power adapter.

It starts playing automattically if you turn engine on.

Graphic looks not bad.

Here's the critical rewiew.

1. There is no last position memory You have to see Opening of movie over and over each time you turn engine on. And you will never see the ending unless you go 2 hours drive.

2. There is no antishock. Clearly, my DVD got lots of scar, and wont play any more.

3. There is some noise on audio if I turn this player on. Sounds like alternator noise. I trouble shoot al lot and concluded this player is the reason.

4. Sound is very small at first (9/15). You have to turn volume to max(15/15) if you want same volume as other source(radio etc). You can turn your radio AUX volume up, but noise will get louder, and if you happen to change to other source, you will break your ear.

I bought other player for thease reason.

Other than that, its good cst performance.

Remember,its under 50 bucks.

Use it in your home or camp, DONT USE FOR YOUR CAR!
