I've been waiting on this book forever. I finished last week but waited to leave a review because I know a lot of people still haven't read it and I didn't want to say too much and give the story away. But I will say this, Ms. King please don't let this saga be over! Tell us that you were playing when you wrote "The End" on the final page. I need to know if the characters...

I am a huge fan of Joy/Deja King and have read all her books,I really enjoyed the first 2 installments of this series, but i have to agree with another reviewer who said it was repetitive and predictable.Tyler is a very likable character, but damn you could have swore she was the last woman on earth the way these guys worshipped her.I wasnt to surprised by the ending,I sort...

I need to know if the characters who ended up together actually stay together or does it all fall apart for them. T-Roc, Tyler, Chantal and Andre got too much drama left to bring this story to a close.

On the upside, I love how you brought back Tyler's mother, Maria and Ian Addison along with the rest of the crew. You tied up a lot of unanswered questions as to why some of these crazy characters behave the way they do. Again, I'm amazed by your writing skills and you are definitely an undeniable talent. Can't wait for Trife Life 2 Lavish and Stackin' Paper 2. Keep them coming Ms. King!

4.0 out of 5 stars Behind All That Glitters, October 6, 2008

Superstar by Joy King ties together the author's previous novels, Dirty Little Secrets and Hooker to Housewife. Chantel Morgan, still bitter about being left at the alter on her wedding day, sees nothing but stars as she witnesses her ex-fiancé and the up-and-coming actress Tyler Blake hugged up together. When Chantel puts her foot on the gas pedal of her car, it is hard to figure out who the intended target is. But does that even matter when she thinks Tyler is a homewrecker and Andre (her ex-fiance') is a misguided fool? And believe it or not, Chantel is not the only one who does not want the couple together. T-Roc slithers his way into the mix via mass deception and Superstar becomes a tale of which secrets are sacred and who done it and why. King weaves lessons of love, loss, forgiveness, and karma that will not easily be forgotten.

Superstar is a fast-paced, high-drama read. There were a couple of scenes that went a little too fast, but when you have a high-strung character like Chantel it should be expected. King did a great job of merging two novels to provide a very fulfilling story that gives readers a definite end to Chantel Morgan and Tyler Blake. The editing could have been more polished, but it was a very enjoyable read. I recommend Superstar to urban fiction readers and Joy King fans.

5.0 out of 5 stars Saved the Best for Last, April 3, 2009

This was the final book in the saga about Tyler Blake, but it was so good I stayed up all night reading it. I thought Hooker to Housewife was good because, it left you at the edge of you seat wondering what would happen next.
Well each chapter of Superstar had me on the edge of my seat.
Chantal is still obsessed with Andre, but she soon realizes that she can't compete with Tyler Blake.

Andre, William, T-Roc and Ian are all asked what it is about Tyler that makes her so hard to get over. None of them can properly answer the question, but I think it is because they are all use to women falling at their feet. They are use to having mind control over woman. Women who will allow them to do whatever the want no questions asked. Tyler is not one of those women. She is capable of loving, but not to the point of totally losing herself in a man. She was referred to as the ice princess several times, but I had to respect her. She still has enough self love to walk away.

Chantal was still obsessed with keeping Tyler and Andre apart. T-Roc was beyond obsessed. He became a sociopath or maybe he always was crazy.
The surprise was when Evan and his mother came back. I didn't see that coming.

I'm glad Chantal finally got her rich husband, but its still sad that she never found a man who could truly love her. Of course, I don't think she loved the guy she married, but they were so much alike it was destine to work.

Maria (Tyler's mother) was a real piece of work. She did something I couldn't imagine doing. How are you gonna accept your daughter's sloppy seconds!!! That's just nasty on a whole other level.
I glad Ms King allowed the characters to have closure and the only thing I didn't like was that the story had to end. This such a good series and I definitely recommend it, but I suggest reading all of the books in order: Dirty Little Secrets, Hooker to Housewife and then Superstar. Bravo Ms. King I loved this series!!!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Ms. King Does It Again, January 18, 2009
This review is from: Superstar (Paperback)
Love will make you do some crazy things. In part 3 drama queen Chantal Morgan gets out of control after being stood up at the alter by her baby daddy Andre Jackson to be with his one true love Tyler Blake. She witness the couple all lovey dovey and goes straight into psycho mode and the next thing you know her foot is on the pedal gunning for Andre but Tyler gets injured instead. She recovers from her injuries and Andre will protect her at all cost from the paparazzi.

At the same time a few people have a thing for Ms. Blake and would pull out all of the stops to break up her relationship with Andre that could end up fatal. They're determined not let anyone come between them not even Chantal until skeletons are revealed that will do much more harm then good. Will the superstar couple be able to salvage there relationship before its too late and still hold on to there superstar status? Take a ride with Andre and Tyler and see if there love is strong enough to get pass the stumbling blocks.

Superstar is all that and a bag of chips. You have your drama, suspense, deception, and heartbreak that remind you of a soap opera. Grab your snacks and book light because this book is a keeper.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hollyhood, January 7, 2009

Never one to disappoint, Joy could surely give a few writers (male and female) in Hollywood a run for their money. I was entertained from beginning to end. "Superstar" consists of theatrics, fashion, suspense, alluring characters and glamour. Did I fail to mention drama?

I believe that T-Roc is without a doubt, the most beloved, wicked human being in Urban Literature. The sort of man you find irresistible yet revolting. He's the ultimate bad boy.

Question: What sort of magical prowess does Tyler Blake possess to have brought Andre, William, Ian, and T-Roc down to their knees? She needs to bottle it up and sell it. She'd earn millions. LMAO

I'm delighted that Tyler now recognizes that not having her father in her life led her to multiple disastrous relationships. I trust she'll finally find true happiness with Andre.

Chantal has mercifully matured. Realizing that her daughter's happiness is imperative is quite selfless of her. That's exactly what respectable parents yearn for their children.

Although, I find the "Hollywood" scene a bit superficial, Joy has the uncanny flair to deliver an incredible story. I can certainly see "Superstar" on the silver screen someday.

Joy, take a bow, as you justly deserve it! Bravo!
