5.0 out of 5 stars Love These!
First off let me say that I almost didn't order these because of the reviews that they smelled but I'm so glad I did. The set that arrived does not smell at all, not even the smallest bit. We got them for my daughters 3rd birthday and she loves them. They are very cute and seem to be built well. The scooby is super cute, he is double jointed and has a button on the...

3.0 out of 5 stars Was Scooby Skunked??
These are adorable... agreed. However, here are a few issues:
1. They smell horrible.
2. Velma has no underwear.
3. ToysRUs sells them for $14.99 (and the van for $19.99)...

The smell, is bad enough, that I would pass on these (given the option). They are made in China and I'm not sure what shade of toxic these might be, but, after...

The smell, is bad enough, that I would pass on these (given the option). They are made in China and I'm not sure what shade of toxic these might be, but, after multiple washings and soakings, the stink still comes off on your hand. And, you might find yourself 'sniffing' them out if you are in the same room with them. NOt really the type of 'joy' I was looking forward to giving my 3 year old. From the minute she got them, she would play with them, with her nose plugged. Ruh-Row!!

1.0 out of 5 stars BUYERS BEWARE, January 25, 2008

We bought these for our 3 year old son for Christmas. It has been a month since then and our son loves them, but there is a BIG problem. The paint on them all had been steadily falling off. Freddy now has only patches of paint on his arms, and Daphne has only a spot of paint left on her head. With the recent issues involving Chinese made toys, I decided to throw them all out this morning. The toys are great as long as you don't mind you children ingesting the paint from them. If you do buy them, check them constantly for signs of deterioration. But, I would highly discourage this purchase.

4.0 out of 5 stars Scooby for the wee ones, August 26, 2007
= Durability:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:1.0 out of 5 stars

This morning while stocking at Toys R Us, I was thrilled to death to see new Scooby Doo toys. The first thought that entered my mind when I saw the Mystery Inc crew was, "They're so cute!" Indeed, like the new Spiderman and Justice League toys for preschoolers, the gang has been shrunk and made into easy to hold, durable, cute figures for the littler ones who need bigger pieces, more durable and smaller sized figures for their comfort and safety.

However, being a much older kid who loves Scooby Doo, I noticed some things odd about the gang. First off: Freddy's eyes. In most of the sets, he has "crazy eyes". Also, the paint jobs aren't that great in a lot of the sets. A more commmon trend we see now in toys now that they're being poisoned in---er---made in China and other countries even more cheaply than before.

However, your littles ones won't care. It's Scooby and the gang! And they're so cute and made just right for smaller hands. Even better, Scooby's eyes bug out of his head, fitting his cowardly personality. You can almost hear him going "Ripes!". Of course, if you're not young but young at heart like me, you'll love them all the same. I know I do. They're currently solving mysteries in my room like the case of the missing pencil while cruising in the new Mystery Machine ya'll should check out as well.

I bought these for a friend's child and when my own child couldn't stop talking about them, decided to get one for her. I decided to head over to Toys R Us and maybe get a comparable product. I paid $9.99 for the exact same thing!! On Amazon I paid $15.99 plus shipping, so $21.99!!!! I can't even believe it! The seller was Santa's Workshop and I recall seeing similarly over-priced items from that seller. Beware! Not a bargain at this price!!

My 5 year old son loves Scobby doo. These figures(along with the van) are the perfect toys for him, He's had this for about a year and still plays with it everyday. They pretty much go everywhere with us. They are really durable and have held up really well and believe me..My son is rough on things. These are well worth the money and really fun!

My son received the Mystery Inc figures along with the Mystery Machine for his birthday. He's rough on everything. The figures have held up well. They have been used in the bathtub as well as in the Mystery Machine and have no scratches, missing limbs or other disfigurments.

They DID NOT smell bad to me. I think this may depend on the batches that were manufactured.

They are based on the New Scooby Doo characters. So, Daphne does not have her boots and Fred is dressed more modernly. It is true that Velma is lacking undergarments. But then again, it's hard to be ladylike in a plastic skirt.

The feet on these characters are hollow. This helps them stand upward. They do have trouble staying seated properly on the driver's bench of the Mystery Machine. They also have a groove in their hands to allow them to grasp a steering wheel or other object.

I am far more impressed with these figureines than I am with the Mystery Machine itself. I think they are a great value for the money. They allow imaginations to make up story lines. They have been durable so far.

I would recommend these to Scooby Doo fans. The figures are a bit primitive, but the kids seem to enjoy playing with them.

3.0 out of 5 stars Shaggy is in pieces, March 27, 2008

My son loves these toys, but to my surprise, I dropped Shaggy in a parking lot from about waist high (From the back of a stroller) and his torso split open, and all his limbs and his head flew off everywhere. I put all the pieces back together and five seconds later, he was in pieces again. I know the van is probably not the same manufacturer, but the doors have been coming off since day one. NOT a durable toy. Update, We lost another member of the Scooby gang today. Maybe got stepped on? Cracked into sharp little plastic pieces. Not durable at all.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not as durable as they look, January 1, 2008
= Durability:1.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:2.0 out of 5 stars

I bought these for my 7 year-old son, who is a HUGE Scooby Doo fan. He has received several sets of the traditional SD characters, and loves them. He uses them in imaginary play often. The only problem is that he loved them so much, that many characters were missing arms, legs or heads. He continued to play with a headless Shaggy for some time. I bought this set because it was targeted toward pre-schoolers and looked like it might be more durable than the previous sets. I was quite disappointed when the Shaggy Character had a broken piece right out of the box. Since then, Scooby's front leg has broken. I gave them a high rating for fun, because my son really likes them, but don't buy these if you want durability. By the way, I have not noticed any strange smell to the characters at all (as mentioned in a previous review), and I consider myself to be sensitive to smells.

The large feet look silly but are needed for stability. The figures are also durable; my 4 and 6 year boys did not break (yet).
