Book Description

December 15, 2006
Rump-smacking good action-adventure trans fiction that boots transgender literature out of the classroom and into the streets. A hard-edged tale of passion, revenge, and low-rent apartments, Supervillainz has romance, car chases, brutal superheroes, epic battles in dyke bars, and a climax that will have you reaching for the tissues.

About the Author

Alicia E. Goranson is a writer from the Boston area. She makes desserts to give away as gifts and not eat herself. She gives fake answers to telemarketers while prefacing each with "I am about to tell a lie." She tells stories about the strength of the underdog and the unloved. She seeks to flesh out stereotypes until they are unrecognizable, whole people whose ghosts remain even if they are torn apart afterward.

4.0 out of 5 stars A fun read!, September 24, 2007
This review is from: Supervillainz (Paperback)
Falling somewhere in the realm where Scooby-Doo meets Pat Calafia, Supervillianz is a fast-paced action adventure set in a near-future, not quite real-world Boston. The queer/trans community defines the context of the characters in a lot of ways, but unlike in much gay and lesbian fiction, it doesn't define the story, which stands on its own merits outside the gay/lesbian niche. Don't get bogged down worrying about whether the reactions of the media and the world at large to what's going on are believable; just dig right in to an enjoyable adventure with some good guys you really want to root for, and bad guys you really want to hiss at.
