Good product, hardware lacking!,

I've been very pleased with this winch after a difficult installation... At one point I used this to drag the bottom out from under a 60ft poplar tree that wedged into the ground and hung up on another tree after I cut it. I know from the past that a come-along or even dragging with chains wouldn't have budged it. Speed is also faster than most. HOWEVER, the bolts I received with the winch (1/2in) would not even fit through the mount holes! I went and bought 4, 7/16in grade 8 bolts and the nuts fit in the right side of the winch but not the left(?!) 3/8 was too small so I had to grind down 3 edges on the head of 2 of my 7/16 nuts to get this to mount, a royal pain! Great product though so I guess it's worth the trouble. Also, I'd recommend going to a steel wholesaler and getting 1/2in plate steel to drill and mount to, save a LOT of money off the retail plate. Go to myspaceDOTcom/jbtvt and click pics to see the process I used. Edit - 3/20/2011 - Two years later, this is still a five star item if there ever was one. Used it for winching SO many trees over while felling, pulling them around obstacles while hauling, and my truck out of mud holes while 4 wheeling. Just added a video of it in action from yesterday, pulling a load of spruce logs AND my truck out of a ditch, without a snatch block. (Got sucked in trying to keep logs out of the mud). Also, it seems they've gotten their bolts/nuts squared away.

Awesome winch. Super price and quality. Have used many times in mud and snow and it is powerful and doesn't sap my battery. Mounted perfectly in my XHD modular winch mount bumper. I did not have any hardware problems. The square nuts fit perfectly in the winch "legs". Due check on dimensions for your winch plate and the dimensions of this winch. Especially bumpers where winch is "in" the bumper. Most winches like Warn have the drum for winch line offset more due to how the motors are. The Superwinch is pretty even off both sides of drum. My XHD Modular bumper had two sets of winch plate holes to accomodate these differences. From what I've seen the winch bumper industry is now aware there are players other than Warn. Buy with confidence. This thing rocks and looks good doing it. 04 TJ Rubicon.

Installation was very easy and the winch worked exactly as advertised. This is my second Superwinch and I have never been let down. I think this one will lift a house.

I bought this winch to replace my 8000 warn winch. For the price your not going to beat it .. It did take two weeks for delivery..But that was with free shipping !! I used A smittybilt raised winch plate on my 2005 rubicon.. Everything bolted up perfect ! I had it outta the box installed under an hour... WONDERFUL WINCH !!

I used this winch within 24hrs of installing it, extracted myself and a buddy's vehicle. No problems with the functionality so far. A few things that may or may not be of interest to some people:1. It is heavy. If you have a Wrangler with stock suspension, expect your front end to sag. 2. The plastic cover that protects the controller hook-up broke on the first removal. so now, instead of it just hanging on, out of the way while the controller is connected, you have to put it in your pocket so that you don't lose it. No biggie for me. 3. The big "S" sticker was no where to be found in the box, again no problem because they don't pay me to advertise for them anyway, but also, most of the other safety and information stickers are coming off and this was right from the box. I'm guessing this unit was one of the last ones out since the Talon has been on the market as the replacement. All in all, for under $600 i've got a fantastic winch that will hopefully last for quite a while.

Great buy. Could not beat the price from Amazon. Solid construction down to the polished clutch engagement handle. The length of the remote is plenty. Overall A+ buy. Highly recommend.

Works as advertised - only used once so far. Easy install, but I was replacing a POS rugged ridge that only worked for a year. I bought up since the cheap one didn't last. The cover is good idea, it has kept the winch from getting splashed.

I bought an EPi9.0 for my '75 CJ5 after my Warn 9.5 integrated went when I sold my '74 CJ. I have not missed the Warn in any measurable way, and I certainly appreciated the $600 savings the Superwinch gave me. I use the Jeep/winch on my mountain property to remove downed trees and pull logs from hillsides and canyon walls to cut up for firewood, and for pulling various items around. I have never used a winch for vehicle recovery since I've never been stuck. I've found the EPi9.0 to be every bit as capable as my Warn, it has a quick no/load recovery and reasonable speed under load. I use snatch blocks a lot, since downed trees rarely manage to fall so as to permit a direct pull, and the Superwinch never balks at the load. I will be buying another Superwinch for installation on my '73 Dodge W300 dump truck, but I'm going to get the EP9.0 -- while it has never been a problem for me, if a solenoid goes south, it's easier to repair the non-integrated unit and the separate solenoid can be mounted inside the grill or elsewhere for a clean look.

Great Quality Product-Really Incredible Winch, especially for the price! Product arrived promptly through their Freight Carrier Service. Installed fairly easy on my Jeep TJ's Kilby bumper. Bumper was removed for the installation of this Winch and all predrilled holes lined up perfectly with fairlead and roller attachment. Just had to purchase 4 -one size longer bolts for proper fit through, due to the metal thickness of my bumper. Thanks, hope this will help in your quest in a Winch selection- Superwinch is the way to go!
