2.0 out of 5 stars Compilation of SCM Concepts and match them to SAP APO, October 16, 2004
This review is from: Supply Chain Management Based on SAP Systems (Hardcover)
This book is way too expensive for its content value. I found this book to be just mostly a compilation of Supply Chain Management concepts from work of others including materials from SAP. I feel the author was trying to map at very high level of those SCM concepts to SAP APO capability. If you do not know anything much about SCM and APO, this book is probably good for you to give you ideas of how SAP APO can be used. But again, you can get that from SAP website. Do not expect to get any detailed features of DP, SNP, and PP/DS out of this book, they are just not there. I found it hard to believe someone can rate this book as 5 stars

1.0 out of 5 stars One of the worst books I have ever read, January 7, 2007
By
Muthu "MS" (Harrisbug, PA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Supply Chain Management Based on SAP Systems (Hardcover)
If you are an SAP consultant, this books is not for you. It may give you some superficial information on supply chain if you a SAP user, but I think one of your SAP core team IT folks may be able to teach you that in a few hours. So, don't waste your money on this book, just talk to your SAP support team if you want to understand the process, or pick up another book that would really teach you supply chain management.

4.0 out of 5 stars talks about mySAP.com as a portal and marketplace, September 22, 2006
This review is from: Supply Chain Management Based on SAP Systems (Hardcover)
The book seems best for a newcomer to SAP's software. It describes at a fairly high level the very complex set of packages that SAP offers.

There is a topic that might be of especial interest to some readers. mySAP.com. This is an enterprise-wide portal plus a marketplace. In the computer press, it has received wide publicity. Partly because it gave employees a more role-based and more personalised view into their corporate resources. While the marketplace aspect was a reaction to the rise of the b2b startups during the dot com era. Though most of those startups failed, they did propagate the idea of a convenient marketplace on the Internet. The book shows how SAP implemented this.
