From his unique vantage point, Rich Sherman takes us on a journey that leads to greater success with the objectives of supply chain transformation. Also, and given how quickly everything in the world is changing these days, he ably excites the reader to understand that the journey itself is a major part of the reward. Rich has provided the profession with a highly-understandable roadmap that can help to improve all of our supply chains, and each of individually as a supply chain leader.

4.0 out of 5 stars Compelling Updated Guidance on SC Transformation December 19, 2012
Format:Hardcover
Rich does an excellent job of framing the opportunity and the challenge around current supply chain transformation initiatives at leading global organizations. The metaphor of a tale of two cities, Laggards and Leaders, and netting out the key success factors that actually tie back to delivering true financial and economic value are compelling. In particular, I enjoyed Chapters 7 and 9 for different reasons. In Chapter 7, Rich walks through the linkage between operational metrics and performance to company financial results (income and balance sheet) and return on investment. Many leaders from either IT or Operations looking to lead SC transformation initiatives will benefit from refreshing the scope and depth of their performance opportunity and comittment analysis. In Chapter 9, Rich shares "how" SC transformation initiatives achieve impact, and some interesting, sometimes overlooked key success factors, such as human capital management.
