This is our third personal air purifier by this company, we use two and one died.

It works at least as well as the other two did. I use it on airplanes to reduce the risk of picking up the recirculating germs and I use it extensively in New Orleans where I lead workgroups every couple of months for rebuilding. In New Orleans I wear it in buildings with a residue of mold smell - and sleep with it clipped to my pillow.

The device that died had a plug in option and inexpensive batteries. This one has an extremely expensive battery and no plug in options. It will be fine for plane trips - I just used it on a 12 hour trip to Africa - but I don't know if I could afford to run it most of the time, as I used to in New Orleans.

CAUTION: flip it over your shoulder when drinking liquids so they don't accidently drip down into it and short it out.

I have chemical sensitivities, and this works fairly well. Some things get through, especially if they're pretty strong, but overall I'd highly recommend it. I would also highly recommend getting the rechargable batteries and charger to go with it - the batteries can be REALLY expensive.

It can be worn around the neck, or clipped inside a shirt pocket (if the top of the pocket is left open), and is discreet, especially if inside a pocket.

I purchased this for my duaghter who is in ninth grade to help her with her asthma. You know how all the girls wear so much perfume and air freshners are sparyed everywhere. She wears it faithfully in school and out at friends house. Recently she went to a party where they had a fire burning int eh fireplace. Her comment was she never would have been able to breathe if she did not have it! It saved her from a severe astham attack! She also finds it helpful in the car when we get stuck behind exhaust!

I work in a smoky environment. I was never able to work more than three days in a row due to an asthmatic reaction to the smoke. The day I got this, I never had any problems due to smoke at work again. I can work as many days in a row as I want. Also, a side effect of its use that I have noticed is that I don't get sick anymore due to work. This purifier kills airborne viruses and and bacteria. I used to get sick a lot because my work has so many different people entering from around the world- but no more. It is also good for my allergies when I visit a friend's house with a cat. If I am having a sneazing or watery eye reaction, I'm cleared up soon after I turn this on. I use this religiously.
It is one of my most favorite belongings.

This was the cheapest unit I could find made by Wein sold through this company. I was in shock at first when receiving the product though. The paperwork it comes with referrers to it as a "Bioguard 1000" unit. It mentions that it is just like Wein, but made by another company. My concern was soon lifted once I flipped the unit over and saw that this is indeed made by Wein, evidenced by the stamping into the plastic molding. I guess "Bioguard" just stuck their logo sticker on the front (6 stars clustered together to form a large star) as well as replaced the instruction sheet with their own.

The unit is top-notch in terms of effectiveness. I have not tested it with germs as I haven't had it long enough to say if it protected me or not. However, it has helped me sleep better by putting it near my bed. I also helps my wife when near her too. She is very perceptible to smells, and does notice a slight chemical smell (ozone?). I notice it slightly, but don't find it bothersome unless I'm an inch away sniffing like crazy.

This is a great price for this unit, and this company is extremely fast with shipping! I would buy again from them in the future. I just wish they would give a better description of the brands they sell, because like I said earlier, I was initially upset.

New Wein Mini Mate is a great product for those who are sensitive to fragrances or pollens. The new Wein models are very light weight compared to the old ones, thus easier to wear, but they don't lie flat, which is a minor annoyance. Wein has been in this business for years so they are a dependable technology provider. It would be nice if the lanyard were ajustable.

The unit works well and is dependable, but it is a limited alternative to wearing a mask. I wear it everytime I go out in public. It provides some protection while shopping, but not complete. It obviously cannot compete with the wind or a pervasive fragrance situation. If you drop the unit, it falls a part, so tape the battery cover on. Buy several lithium batteries, so you are not caught short when the battery wears out, and carry one with you.

Avoid using rechargable batteries. Some airlines (Continental) will not let you wear them on their planes due to a fire hazard from the rechargable batteries. They had an experience with a fire on a plane and now they assume all units are using recharable batteries. So put it in your carry on if challenged. Personal Air Supply AS150mm Black

In the past few years, something's broken down in me and I can't tolerate: perfume, cigarette smoke, harsh cleaners, many office buildings, formaldehyde (in cardboard boxes, cheap clothes), hair product. I get a headache shopping at Target. Haven't been on a plane in 4 years (used to do underwater journalism all over the world). So when offered a business trip in Sweden I decided to find a way to survive the flight; saw the Wein, sounded great so I ordered it, along with a nicad charger and batteries.

Did nothing for me. NOTHING. I called the company that makes it in LA, where I live, and I may go to visit them when I return from NYC, my second stop, to see if by chance my model is defective, But I felt like she was equivocating over the phone to be honest, and as of now I'm out $125 bucks or so (for the unit, the charger, spare batteries). The thing that was most helpful, a suggestion from a doc: coat my nose with healthy petroleum jelly and lavender oil and wear a surgical mask. Looked like a weirdo, but that got me thru a 10 hour flight.

Another complaint: the unit is poorly engineered. The clip to put it to your clothing is too tight, has little give and requires a struggle. It also has no swivel, which would be a simple matter, and since it needs to be straight up, it can't be put on a jacket edge or any appropriate, but not perfectly horizontal, surface.

It did NOT work at all for me. I would not recommend it.
