4.0 out of 5 stars I won't fly without it
I fly frequently for business. During the cold and flu season, there are always five or ten people on every flight who are coughing and sneezing. I bought one to fight against my mold allergies anywhere anytime. It really does work, but the instructions indicate that it should be worn right under your chin with the provide lanyard. Thanks to the wretched recirculated air on planes, I used come down with a cold about five days after every flight. Since buying this little device, I have repeatedly flown cross-country at the height of flu outbreaks, and come home without so much as a sniffle. I have bought one for every member of my household. It seems to be very effective in preventing the transmission of viruses through casual contact. If I were a teacher, nurse, or daycare provider, I'd wear it to work every day!

5.0 out of 5 stars A miracle device!, April 23, 2006
I purchased this unit for my commute to work using public transportation.

I have an allergy that can be aggravated by a simple cold; so I want to protect myself as much as possible when away from home and car where I have several air cleaners and ionizers. Having good air quality in public places is truly priceless.

The minute I turned the unit on, it was like experiencing a shot of cold energetic fresh air! The operative word is "energetic"; I had never experienced this kind of "vitality" from air. The novelty of this makes it as much a "fun" device.

The specs are excellent, and it's a good all around unit to have, especially when going into crowed places and public restrooms.

Forget about getting an Ipod, get this thing instead; it will change your life!

On a more serious note, although no one can promise complete protection against flu viruses, this could be one of the better preventative measures. The manufacture even states potential for protection from certain biological agents.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good and not good, October 20, 2007
I bought one to fight against my mold allergies anywhere anytime. It really does work, but the instructions indicate that it should be worn right under your chin with the provide lanyard. I have found the amount ozone production to be high and uncomfortable. If worn under my chin, my eyes would start watering and itching because of the highly oxidizing ozone gas. Nowadays, I wear it with a cellphone hoister. It works great that way. I can still smell some ozone, but it is not as bad as having it blow in your face. The AS150MM adds 48 ppb of ozone to ambient ozone. The maximum safe level (continuous) exposure for humans is 50 ppb. AS150MM only gives 2 ppb of margin to work with. Creating distance between the unit and my nose increases that margin. I mostly use my unit indoors because ozone levels are lower indoors than outdoors. During high ozone days, I neglect using it. Chronic asthma patients should probably stay away from getting this. It may trigger a bad asthma attack.

i have owned the wein air supply 150 for about 5 years and i highly recommend it for anyone with asthma or sensitivities to perfumes....i do have to hold the unit up close to my nose when surrounded by stong smells and it does help, i dont cough and get choked up like i would without the air supply....i let my brother, who also has allergies and sensitivities, borrow my air supply and he liked it so much he bought himself one.

2.0 out of 5 stars Prefer Filter Stream, August 28, 2009

I had a tough time deciding between the Wein Mini-Mate and the Filter Stream from Advanced Cleaning Appliances, so I bought both. Between the two, I'd definitely recommend the Filter Stream. The Wein Web site refers to University testing and that it performed better than competitive units, but does not link to the actual studies or name the competitors involved in such research. If, in fact, the Wein Mini-Mate was actually tested against the Filter Stream I might change my mind - otherwise go with the Filter Stream. Please note, too, the cost of replacement batteries for the Wien device and the battery lifespan vs. thjose for the Filter Stream.

5.0 out of 5 stars Long-lasting, November 2, 2006

I have used Air Supply on airplanes for 10 years. Let me clarify, I have used THE SAME Air Supply device for 10 years. It just broke this month and I am immediately replacing it, VERY satisfied with and grateful for its performance. I used to get colds from airplane flights, but I have gotten NONE since using Air Supply. One month, I didn't use it on the airplane because I got so used to being cold-free, I thought I didn't need it anymore. Wrong! I got a cold from the flight on which I did not use Air Supply. So I went back to making sure I have it on every flight - no more colds.

5.0 out of 5 stars 7 yrs ago this gave me my life back!, July 21, 2007
By
When I found the original Air Supply reviewed in Good Housekeeping I knew I had to try it. I took Benadryl constantly and nasal steroids and eye drops and I STILL needed to use a thick Tuberculosis mask in order to leave my home. I couldn't think of sleeping without my electrostatic air cleaners nearby.

Once I received the AS150MM "mini Mate" I didn't need medication or a mask. I could stay overnight at a friend's house by laying the mini mate on my pillow facing me. People were all saying how nice it is to see my face and also how my eyes were no longer red and weepy. I've been using these air cleaners for 7 years and have friends that bought it because of me, they love it too.

5.0 out of 5 stars The cats can stay!, February 22, 2007

Cara G. (Downey, CA USA) - See all my reviews
My daughter brought home three cats that were causing me some respiratory problems. I slept with the Air Supply last night and had the best sleep I have had in months. I didn't realize how affected I was from the dander before I put on this devise. I love it. Now instead of buying a houseful of air purifiers I can just wear this!

With all the travelling I do I wouldn't leave without this product. With all the germs on board a plane this keeps me safe. I flew one time without it and got a real bad cold. I don't leave home without it.

4.0 out of 5 stars No more travel germs!, January 14, 2009
This review is from: Air Supply Mini-Mate Personal Ionic Air Purifier--Clear (Kitchen)
Bought two of these about a year ago for my husband and I. We travel quite a bit overseas for his job. We both would always wind up catching some nasty cold or worse on the plane until we started wearing these. Neither of us have gotten sick at all since we bought these and have been on about 6 Trans-Atlantic flights! After about an 18 hour travel day the battery is pretty much dead. So we have to change it out each time. The batteries are CR123A, which are about $17 for a two pack. A bit pricey, but sooo worth it to not be sick. I only gave this a 4 star because I do get some very odd looks when I have this around my neck on the plane. It probably wouldnt be as noticeable, except for the fact that the Clear Shell on mine shows a blinking light when it's on. Every single flight somebody says "um...whats that"? I can only imagine what they think! I highly recommend this, but try to buy the all black and not the clear! You wont regret it, if you get sick when you travel!!
