My wife and I have been using these sure grips for about 20 years. We walk our dogs 1/2 to 3/4 miles sometimes twice a day on our residential street in the winter. We feel safe on ice and snow and on the patches of clear pavement. We have had St. Bernards, Newfoundlands and Golden Retrievers who can be friskie. at times. I've also found the Sure Grips to work well when hiking on rough winter terrain in the woods. The grippers do wear out after two or three years so these will will be about our 10th or 12th pair. We have tried a few other kinds of grippers but they either had such large gripping teeth that they were awkward or they wore out very quickly(YakTraks) Yaktrax Walker Traction Cleats for Snow and Ice.

I purchased this item for my father who had a stroke back in 1996. Since then we have tried several other styles of safety treads, but none have measured up. I was very glad to see that this style was available again and my father is extremely happy.
