I read this book after much self study about God's grace using only a concordance and the Bible. What I concluded was exactly what is so eloquently written in this book, that God's salvation (and the keeping of that salvation) is totally dependent on our accepting Jesus as our sacrifice and the gift of God's amazing grace alone. I have been a Christian for many years but struggled with not feeling good enough in my Christian walk. I was raised to believe that you can lose your salvation. After learning that anything that we receive from God is by His grace and that we don't deserve one single thing from him by our own merit, has truly set me free from condemnation (Rom 8:1,2) Yes, we will all blow it, but by God's grace we are still accepted and a part of His family if we accept the gift of Jesus. Praise God!!

Erwin Lutzer does a wonderful job explaining grace. He uses the Bible to support his message. Too many religions and some Christian denominations teach how "good works" will get you to Heaven. Too many people are misguided and don't even know it. This book will let you know if you are truely saved. Jesus is the only way people.

Romans 10: 9-10 For if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved.

Stop thinking you can do anything to save yourself. Read this book and learn how to find the truth the Bible, the true Word of God, say you need to do.

You should know about this book: it deserves a full 5 star. It's so inspiring, that you simply can't stop reading. I finished it in one night!

Mr. Lutzer explains in this book THE importance of grace, the free gift God gave us through Jesus. With this book, you will truly see how much God loves us, that we are assured of salvation once we believe and walk the path of the Lord. This book will make you grow spiritually, something rare to find in most books. I used to hear "Jesus washed away my sins" but never quite grasped the true meaning of it: why did he have to die for him to do so? If he was God, couldn't he simply have chosen a simpler way? With this book, the answer becomes so logical and so heart and mind touching. In trying to prove to you why yes we can be sure we will spend eternity with God, Lutzer has built one of the best and most grasping explanation of the cross and its central place in our salvation. Then you'll understand why believers can be sure of their salvation: because God paid the price instead of us...to the last cent!

Simply put, no Christian should miss reading this book: its small, exciting, biblically based, and will help you get a step closer to God.

I found this book to be very thought provoking, as well as very informative. I wish I has read a book like this 15 years ago! Very easy reading and, in my opinion, a strong explanation of what is need to make it to eternity with God.

Because of this book by Erwin Lutzer, I decided to read all his books. He's an excellent author and I've ordered several more of his works.

I have dozens of Christian books and this is by far the best. It goes it to detail explaining how we know we are saved, and why some people who think they are saved are not. Based on the bible, the author explains the difference between grace & good works and which one saves us. I feel much more confident in understanding my faith.

I have read and shared this book now with two individuals. In the first case the person definitely found it helpful in dealing with past failures which prevented her from experiencing the freedom in Christ that our salvation brings. In the second case, I have yet to hear the effect. However, I recommend this book as a very clear presentation of what real Christianity is. Dr. Lutzer is practical, biblical, and powerful in his writing and teaching.

I have had this book in my possession for many years now. It is well worn with many down turned pages to mark my favorite areas. This book is like a ray of sunshine when the clouds of doubt descend upon me. I have often struggled with doubts over the years, but when I do I turn back to the Bible and this book to walk me through my doubts and fears. Your book always forces me to look back to Christ and Christ alone for my salvation and assurance. Next to the Bible, this book is my most prized possession!

This book was so enlightning, I read it in a few days. It gave me the information I was seeking to spend eternity with our Lord, Jesus Christ (God). It is a must reading book.

I reluctantly admit, I am always teetering on the brink of being seduced by Satan's evil secular society. Recently, though, I read Lutzer's inspired book, which convinced me I was barking up the wrong tree. All I need is HIS grace and I can give in to sex, drugs, and all the rock & roll I can get.

All my friends down at the Church of the Divine Sepulchre of Spiritual Holiness are now reading the book and we're planning a big party to celebrate, clothing optional. Among the high spots in this fine book was the sensitive support given in the bibliography to Santa Claus, Mother Goose, and the Stork. Top Notch!
