Product Description

The SureFire® E2L Outdoorsman is a compact (pocket sized), dual-output LED flashlight with extended runtime. Its virtually indestructible, two-stage light-emitting diode (LED) light source produces a smooth, pre-focused beam that, at maximum output, is three times brighter than that of a big two-D-cell flashlight. At its low setting it produces a useful three lumens of light and continues producing useful light levels for 100 hours on a set of lithium batteries. Small size (it's lightweight enough to clip to hat brim for hands-free operation), dual output, extended runtime, and 10-year battery shelf life make the E2L perfect for camping, backpacking, travel, emergency/disaster preparedness kits, or as an everyday-carry for general use.Tailcap switch: press for momentary-on, press further to click constant-on..Switch lockout prevents accidental activation during transport or storage..Max Output: High 60 Lumens; Low: 3 Lumens..Runtime: High 11 hours; Low 100 hours..Length: 5.40 in..Weight: 3.70 oz..Battery: Two 123A Lithium (included)..Made in USA..

This is the ultimate outdoorsman's flashlight. It's lightweight and extremely bright. As a scoutmaster and camper, it pierces the darkness and is great for on trail hiking during the night. The fact that it is LED should not deter anyone, as it is brighter than a 4D Maglite and fits in the palm of your hand. I keep it in my truck at all times for emergency purposes. The grip has a great texture, and the lock out tailcap is great for preventing accidental operation.

The only downfalls are that it takes only lithium batteries (I suggest ordering the SureFire brand) which can get a little expensive, and that the flashlight tends to roll due to a round design, which can pose positioning problems.

You will not be disappointed if you purchase this tool.

This is another great light from Surefire after they redesigned the head. The beam is more concentrated and is able to shine further than the previous model and is brighter too. Light is small so you can carry on daily bases the only thing is the price is on the high end compare to the other brand at the same size but the performance can't be compared. Best light in the class. Recently I also got Surefire U2, another amazing light from Surefire. If you want to just get one light, U2 is the one.

The Surefire E2L outdoorsman is the first real flashlight I have ever owned. Before the outdoorsman, I always used a minimag, and was sick of the flickers from walking and not being able to see anything at distance. I would equate the amount of light this flashlight to a 4 D cell mag, but the size of a mini. The batteries lasted me the entire summer (I work at a camp and lead camping trips so it got used everynight). The two light settings are nice too, the bright is too bright for most of the time, so low often came in handy. I wasn't sure when I first ordered this light if I just spent too much, it doesn't look like much...but the first night of use I was hooked. I often worked with guides who would ooh and awe over this light, and I'm sure I'll get a laugh this next summer when I run into them all carrying Surefires.

I took this flashlight (illumination tool) backpacking and I could not have been more thrilled. The light output is amazing! The weight (5 ounces) is just what is needed when hiking in the mountains. The dual illumination settings worked great. I used the 3 lumens setting much of the time. When I used the 60 lumen setting, the output was amazing. I could clearly illuminate 90 foot pine trees at their tips or rock formations 40 yards away. The beam was focused and far reaching. This is my first Surefire but definitely not my last. I have ordered the Surefire Saint headlamp as a result of this flashlight. The quality and attention to detail justify the price.

As with most people, I've bought lots of flashlights over the years. Recently I purchased a SureFire E2L Outdoorsman since I do a lot of camping and I need something that I can depend on and is durable enough to take into the woods.

The E2L is expensive, but is incredibly well made. I'd go as far as saying that there is not a better constructed flashlight on the planet. It uses a LED to generate the light meaning that there is no "bulb" to burn out. The light output is phenomenal. I cannot believe that such a small device can generate so much light. It is rated at 45 lumens which is VERY bright (twice as bright as a typical two D-sized battery flashlight). Also, the batteries are very affordable and will last something like 12 - 14 hours without getting progressively dim, before the batteries lose their charge.

In summary, stop buying crappy flashlights every few years that turn out to be junk and break too easily. The E2L is indestructible and will provide you with more than enough light for any type of outdoor activity. I also purchased the optional red filter which allows you to preserve your "night vision" (your pupils won't lose their dilation at night) so you can read maps or do whatever without having your eyes readjust to the darkness.

The writers of the two negative reviews have probably never owned a Surefire. Surefire does not make a flashlight that uses AAA batteries and their warranty is lifetime and covers the whole flashlight! I own eight various flashlights including one E2L and one E1L. Both are extremely bright and output OTF lumens of 3/60 and 3/45.
It is hard to tell the difference. Both will blind an oncoming opponent if necessary. Otherwise, the 3 lumen low level provides quite enough light to light up a trail at night.

Surefire is a fine American company that values it's customers and does it's best to keep them. Try one and find out for yourself. These flashlights have survived being dropped, run over by trucks and various other forms of unintended abuse and continue to work fine and do not display signs of damage! Excellent products.
