Product Description

The Surefire FM35 Red Filter produces a smooth beam of red light that will not degrade night vision as white light would. Hunters use the red filter to avoid spooking game during predawn hours - deer see poorly in the red color spectrum. The filter is also useful for close range, non-tactical applications - such as map reading -- as it reduces the intensity of light output. Applying thumb pressure to the locking tab releases the cover; a spring mechanism keeps the open cover out of the way by holding it flat against the flashlight. A cam-locking lever keeps the entire unit securely attached to the flashlight.

Over the Top February 19, 2011

I'm not going to lie this thing is kind of retarded. Its very large and bulky and tries so hard to be "tactical". It works I guess, but filters out a lot of the light so you end up with very little red light left over which is alright for some applications where you would want less. The flip cover works great until you actually put it on the light when it becomes impossible to flip off with one hand; this may just be a flaw in the one I have though. I also can't figure out why they half silvered it which doesn't seem to have any purpose. Overall this is a big, ugly and expensive tacticool piece of plastic to make your surefire produce red light. I have also heard of cases of these things snapping the first time they were installed on the light, but mine has held up thus far.

Great product. Once you snap it on, it will not come out. I use this every night and it gets the beaten up a lot. The red lens is not the best, I have used a cheaper all rubber lens, but this one will not accidentally pop off or break. i highly suggest this for all LEO's.

Does the trick March 12, 2012

Item is overbuilt and looks extremely tough. I bought this along with the Surefire G2X Pro and the two go together beautifully. This is not an everyday light cover for me, my light is mounted on my AR-15 and I bought this cover so that I could night hunt for varmints and hogs. I haven't taken it into the field yet but the cover/light combo seems ideal for this at ranges up to 100 yds. The cover will significantly decrease the power of your light's beam. Be warned. Would also be great for getting in and out of a blind in the morning/night without blinding yourself. Highly recommend.
