Surefire batteries are made in the USA by Panasonic (last I checked), but they clearly have a deal where they get the best-quality units from every production run. They last a long time and they perform consistently, maintaining their voltage until they're completely dead. Oh, and they kinda look like shotgun shells lined up in their little flip-top box. =)

I wish they weren't $2 apiece, but honestly, all the cheaper brands have issues with one cell holding a noticeably different amount of charge than the next, and considering other brands of high-quality CR123 batteries cost 3x as much in the supermarket, $2 apiece for these is still a bargain. If you buy these you'll save money just by not having to replace them as often.

By the way, if you have any devices that use ANY kind of lithium battery in a multi-cell configuration (even the 1.5V Energizer Lithium AAs), you should know that one lithium battery will block the flow of electricity from the other batteries when it finally wears out. DO NOT throw away all of the batteries in a device that suddenly stops working -- chances are, only one of the batteries is really dead, and the others have plenty of charge left. You can save a lot of money by testing used batteries before you throw them away.

SureFire CR123A 3-Volt Lithium Batteries are my preferred battery when it comes to dependability, reliability, and performance. I have been using SureFire batteries for close to ten years and they work great. They have a 10 year shelf life although I cannot imagine storing them for that period of time because I use the batteries regularly. I use these batteries in an assortment of Surefire and other LED flashlights. Over the years I have tried other brands of the CR123A batteries but I always come back to SureFire because they seem to hold a charge longer and more consistently than other brands. Many flashlights that use the CR123A battery do not have much of an extended run time so it is especially critical to keep extra batteries with you in case these batteries fail. I carry my spare batteries in the Surefire SC1 Spares Carrier.

Overall, I recommend the SureFire CR123A 3-Volt Lithium batteries over any other brand.

These batteries are exactly what is described and shown in the picture. As a federal agent, I have to be able to rely on my flashlight(s). Having this quantity of batteries on hand in my go bag is a must. With Amazon pricing and shipping, these are an unbeatable deal.

I just received the batteries I ordered. I ordered just what the description states, a 12 pack boxed batteries. I did get 12 batteries but they came in a bag. There were three rows of four batteries in a flat plastic package. Each of the three rows had the batteries touching each other, the plus to the minus just like in a flashlight. Batteries should not be stored this way. It can cause the batteries to discharge and with Lithium batteries there could be a remote risk of a fire. Also the expiration date was only 8 years away and Surefire advertises 10 year shelf life. So I lost two years of shelf life before I even got them. The company "planetools" should state the date. I will not do business with that company again. Surefire batteries are good batteries and you can get the batteries that are treated correctly from other companies.

BUYER BEWARE!!!!! I ordered the 12 pack of "Boxed" batteries and what i received was a plastic baggie with 12 batteries inside. The sticker on the bag clearly said "boxed" batteries. Apparently their idea of a box is a cheap plastic baggie.

This may seem like a small nuance but it brings up two issues for me:

1. I seriously doubt that these batteries are brand new. - they must be used or rejects to come in such poor packaging.
2. I ordered the boxed batteries so that I could store them in the box in my gun safe. I specifically chose this option over the plastic shell packaging options for this very reason.

I went online to return these and noticed that it says "non-returnable".

DO NOT BUY THESE BATTERIES!

I have one of the wonderful Surefire flashlights that run on 3 CR123A batteries, and these are my replacement batteries of choice.

The twelve pack is convenient and gives you lots of usage in a really small and handy package. More importantly, these batteries seem to give me a slightly brighter and more long-lasting beam from my flashlight when compared to the off-brand CR123A cells you can buy in bulk online. My flashlight also doesn't seem to get as hot to the touch when powered by these. These aren't the most inexpensive, but they seem to be worth the additional cost.

Haven't tried them in other devices (cameras, etc) that use CR123A batteries, but I'd expect them to be good performers there as well.

NICE PICTURE OF WHAT IS PORTRAYED AS A NEW BOX OF BATTERIES. UNFORTUNATELY, IT WAS A BUNCH OF BATTERIES IN A PLASTIC BAG. BUY THESE SOMEWHERE ELSE.

I'll keep it simple, because Surefire batteries perform the best for the bright flashlights that use them.

They claim a 10 year shelf life, the expiration date is stamped onto each battery. BUYER BEWARE of other Surefire battery purchases online - many of them will be for batteries that are halfway into their shelf life, or more. I ordered this exact item from Amazon and the expiration date stamped onto each batteries is approximately 9 to 9.5 years after I received them. This is what you want, since the date info isn't on the product page, I figure 9 to 9.5 years remaining on a 10 year shelf life is about as good as you can get when buying online.

** AGAIN, BUYER BEWARE, there ARE other Surefire CR123A 12 packs sold on Amazon. There are reviews for some of these that do say they were *near the end of their shelf life upon delivery*.

** You don't want to pay for 10 year shelf life and only get 1 or 2!! Buy this item, on this page! :)
