They said it couldn't be done,

Horrors! I had broken off the little plastic cross that projects from atop a plastic chess king, part of a special chess set I've treasured since my childhood, back in the 1950's. I tried to re-affix the cross, using airplane glue and again with a popular clear contact cement, but could not obtain a good bond. So, I went online to read up on how to bond plastic to plastic. Several sources said to test a tiny spot of the target item with acetone (nail polish remover), and if the plastic does not soften, then NOTHING short of hot air welding would bond it. Upon testing, my chess king's plastic did NOT soften. Not good! But I continued my researches, and learned of some newer products that claimed to work with "some plastics".
So, I made a trip to my local hardware store where I discovered Surehold's Plastic Surgery (in the precision control tube). I was impressed by the package claims which listed some 12 or 15 different plastics that it claimed to work well with, including polypropelene, polyurethane, PVC, nylon, plexiglass, polyester, and half a dozen more that I never even heard of. I decided to try it. One tiny drop, applied to one surface was all it took. A strong bond resulted after holding the pieces together for 15 seconds. I then did multiple drop tests on a hard surface, as well as applying lateral pressure directly to the king's delicate cross. Eureka! Kingy's cross seems to be very firmly attached, and I can just barely see the join under bright light and intense scrutiny. Wow! This stuff works like magic! Thanks Surehold! Final note. My repair required some repositioning of the part, in order to "find by feel" the correct alignment with the break. This was a pretty clean break, but hard to align correctly. Fortunately, the bonding did not occur until the proper alignment with the break was found and the piece seated itself accurately. I was worried that this might be a problem, but Plastic Surgery seems well designed to permit some time (perhaps 30-60 seconds?) for repositioning. First Aid Suggestion: My previous on-line research had uncovered what to do if one's fingers were accidentally welded together (easy to do, but strongly discouraged!) The main thing is, DON'T PANIC. Just rub vegetable oil all around the affected area and gradually work it into the affected skin as you gently and slowly peel the welded skin apart. Patience is required. Keep applying the oil and working it in. After a few minutes the skin should slowly begin to separate. It worked for me, but a few hours afterwards, my finger tips were still a bit tender, but it sure beats a trip to the ER! If you have young children in the house, keep this stuff under lock and key, or better yet, dispose of when you finish your project.

This product has saved my butt more than once when a plastic part has broken and rather than have to replace some expensive part, Plastic Surgery makes it better than new. They have done tests showing the new bond is actually stronger than the original before it was broken! Great Product!

I was trying to mend a plastic license plate holder for my motorcycle. If you're looking for a fast curing glue this is NOT it. I ended up using a soldering iron to mend the pieces together.

IS a Super Glue product that won't dry out in the tube. I love it because of the 'pin' that keeps the glue from drying out after you open the tube. And it works like a charm in covering small cuts and abrasions..... Almost like sutures in a tube! i use a very similar product for repiring small lacerations in my Family Practice office! Kids love it! No shots!
