It's about time! What took them so long to get this album back into circulation? Easily one of the best early thrash outfits in the late 80's, "Ignorance" stands tall as a quality offering, toe-to-toe with classics from their contemporaries. Easily as good as Exodus and Death Angel, Sacred Reich made a nice dent in the scene with skillfully executed, catchy rythyms that drive hard and sound really good loud. I've searched long and hard to find this album on CD at a decent price. Thanks to Metal Blade, now I've got "Ignorance," "Surf Nicaragua," and some cool video, to boot! Not bad. Thanks fellas. For anyone who enjoys the thrash metal genre on any level, buy this album!

I love this double album,they are two of Sacred Riech's best albums. they are hard and heavy, just the way I like it.
Amazon always has the old stuff you can't find in stores. Great job.

surf ignorance cds are cool, i first heard them back in 87 when they just had come out with ignorance, when i first heard them i thought there songs were fast and thrashing, brutal stuff, could break your neck headbanging. but the only reason i'm writing this review is not that i like writing reviews, in fact i never do,oviously, but i feel i have to warn people that the 2cd with the dvd, the dvd i got was pal format , i live in the usa,so the pal for me is useless. why they didn't say it was an import and the dvd is pal format in the product desription,i don't know. well anyways i called amazon and alerted them to the problem, in the end though i just let it go, i was only wanting the cds anyways, the dvd dosen't matter to me as much as the two cds. but beware, if your wanting the dvd as well, e-mail amazon and find out first which format the dvd is, i also think the price is a little to high, cds shouldn't cost as much as they do, i mean come on, whats the deal with these companys selling cds at this high of a price, total rip-off, but i guess in this day and age we just dowmlowd stuff, but if you collect cds like i do, it be cool just to buy these kindve cds at least a respectable price. oh well at least this time i made an exception, sacred reich is badass, so in a way for me its worth it, now i have all there cds in my collection. but like i mentioned about the dvd, it might be pal format, if you live in the usa it's worthless on a usa dvd player, unless you have a converter or something or .maybe a computer,i dont know, but find out first if this is an import and the format, i just wish i didn't pay such a high price, especially since i kindve got burned on the dvd, lower the price man, lower the price. word.

Ok, I'm really going out on a limb here, but I just have to say it: Sacred Reich were, just like The Clash, "the only band that matters" within the 80s thrash scene.
Hailing from Arizona and led by bassist/vocalist Phil Rind, they rose to prominence with their hardcore tinged sound, uncompromising spirit and highly opinionated political lyrics that featured an intelligently satiric sense of humor.
Although The American Way is considered their best album, this is a great way to get a hold of the band's equally significant earlier work.
On Ignorance, their debut, they may sound much rawer than on later albums, but they still prove to be a lyrically intelligent band with a lot to say about the evils of war, racism and political oppression. While other thrash outfits tackled the same issues on a more tangential or abstract manner, Sacred Reich shows an unusual lyrical maturity by questioning the US government for supporting right wing dictatorships as a means of stopping communism on Death Squad or examining Nazi Germany on "Sacred Reich", which I cannot help think it might also be a veiled comment on Reagan's moral majority sponsored conservative revolution.
Surf Nicaragua, a fan pleasing stop gap EP, features a slightly better production and more confident singing from Phil Rind. The title track, probably the band's best known tune, is the real gem here: a relentlessly thrashing anthem that isn't afraid to comment on the Reagan's administration support of the Contras in Nicaragua while interpolating sections from the surf guitar classic Wipeout to great effect.
Both CDs are packed with interesting bonus tracks, but the deal closer to me is the bonus DVD, which features the band's show stopping 1989 Dynamo Open Air Festival appearance. True, the footage's quality may be amauterish at best, but it still remains a compelling document.
Sacred Reich's music may have been intelligently disturbing, yet ultimately invigorating and satisfying. Their early work proved that, given the chance to develop, they had the potential to be something really special, and it just turned out that the best was yet to come.
For an 80s thrash fan, this special package is a no-brainer.

These are two of my favorite thrash albums from the '80s. I got to see them in Oakland calif. during the "SURF"tour before it came out. The drummer is one of my favorites. And for you Faith No More fans(I am Not ONE) They do the best version I have ever heard of War Pigs. the drummer again.YOU HAVE TO BUY THIS OR YOU ARE NOT A TRUE THRASH METAL FAN..there ya go kiddies!!!!!

ignorace was a great first cd and better production than alot of other got on their firsts.this cd became a instant classic(around 87 slayer greg hall tried out for dave lombardos drum stool,they didn't hire him but Kerry said that man can jam!)
surf nicaragua was a mass improvement on their original formula,better song writting and alot more press and a invitation to dynamo(this show is on the bonus dvd,great show)the power and fury they put in the surf ep is shocking and paid them back is record sale and fan base.
these cds mare the first half of their career their climb to the top after this they had better sucess with american way/independance/a question ep each better than the last except heal which was stale to me.
this 2 cd set is vital releases to any thrash/speed metal fan classic must have!
