About the Author
Fred Van Dyke taught science at Punahou School in Honolulu for 30 years, retiring in 1985. He took up writing after leaving Punahou and has created both fiction and non-fiction. This is his second children's book.
Van Dyke still surfs and spends lesisure time surfing the north Shore and famed makaha Beach. He was a pioneer big wave surfer of the North Shore of Oahu and is honored as a "Living Surfing Legend."
