Surface Wear,
By robab shakiba (chandler, az United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Surface Wear: Analysis, Treatment, and Prevention (Hardcover)
I found this book very informative and related to my research. The book starts with a brief overview of theory on surface science and continues with different wear mechanisms. It provides good experimental results for each section as describes effect of different factors. Discussions are comprehensive but easy to follow. Wear of metallic surfaces, ceramics and polymers are also covered along with coating and different measurement methods. At the end of each chapter all the references are provided which is very helpful. Adding more discussions about wear in non-ferrous metals would be useful since book talks mostly about steel. Adding colorful pictures of fractured surfaces makes them clearer (obviously makes the book more expensive too, so maybe this is why the writer preferred black and white versions.) I think by adding some examples in the text and some problems at the end of each chapter this book can be a good candidate for an undergrad "wear/corrosion and preventing methods" course. |
