I admit to being a big fan of the Surfaris. Unfortunately, we all know Surfer Joe and Wipe Out, but this CD contains two terrific albums, including great original instrumentals like Waikiki Run and Point Panic, and some terrific covers including Jack the Ripper and Apache. Ron Wilson's voice was a little thin, but Hot Rod High is a terrific song. In general, I think these are two great albums on one CD by a very underrated instrumental band. Looking for more to come, like Hit City '65 and the Surfaris '66, with great cover tunes.

A great foray into the world of surfing sounds with a classic tune,
Wipe Out!Pounding drums and reverb drives the tunes and makes for a great
listening experience.

Two albums of twelve songs each: "Wipe Out" and "The Surfaris Play." The first album I owned in the Sixties, and the second album was new territory for me (Surf classics). I never exactly considered myself a Surfaris "fan," but I have definitely moved into the fan category after listening to these two albums back-to-back! Fender guitars, bass, drums, a sax, and some keyboard makes this instrumentally lively and infectious listening. The "Wipe Out" album contains Sixties instrumental classics such as "Teen Beat," "Walk, Don't Run," "You Can't Sit Down," and "Wild Weekend." "The Surfaris Play" consists of "Point Panic," "Surfaris Stomp," and Surf instrumentals such as "Baja," "Jack the Ripper," "Miserlou," and "Batman." I came across this CD while looking for some Surf instrumentals. I remembered Dick Dale, the Champs, the Astronauts, and the Ventures, and checked out their CDs first. I'm glad I found this Surfaris double album CD because, for me, it gave me a wide array of songs of the Surf genre that were very well-done. One-stop shopping for someone who enjoys Sixties instrumentals with an emphasis on Surf classics (Of course, "Wipe Out" is the all-time greatest Surfari tune). You can't go wrong with this CD if that's what you're looking for!

The Sufaris contributed music that we'll never forget, and the surfing scene it represented.
Many people danced to Wipeout, and most did the "Shimmey". The music of this time
period made people happy, and want to dance!!!!!! It, also, made you want to look like
a surfer, even if you lived in a land-locked state!!!!! Nice to have a CD to enjoy the
talents of this group!!!!!

The only compilation I know of that has surfer joe on it. Of course it was on the album when I had it. The liner notes confirmed
what I had always suspected about the other songs. Great to hear music I haven't heard since '64 or '65.
