One of the very best surfcasting books..,

I've read most of the popular striper/surfcasting books out there and this is really one of the best. It is very well written and easy to read. Beyond the basics and "how to"s it contains information on surfcasting etiquette, preparing for your trip, reading new water, driving on sand... basically all of the offbeat items not covered in depth in other titles that the occasional surfcaster might have questions about.
I've been surfcasting for about a decade now and this book contained a lot of information that I found very useful. It's a must have.

I grew up fishing in Long Island Sound - mainly looking for snapper, flounder, and some bluefish. Once I left the island for college, I gave it up. Many years later, I began fishing Maine, Maryland, and Virginia lakes and fell back in love with the sport with a much greater intensity for the sport and appreciation of the quiet solitude away from work. I've been interested in surfcasting for a long time, but never knew where to begin. Muller's book is more than a checklist for the beginner, but reads more like one man's journal of best and worst experiences on the shore - from taking his first waves on jetties to hauling large stripers off the coast of a big surf, cold spray, and low-temp Montauk Point. Interwoven throughout the personal stories are best practices for surfcasting, preparation, safety, and conservation of the species and the future of the sport. Again, this isn't a textbook on how to become a world-class surfcaster, but rather a fun, engaging, and interesting look at one individual's passion that is downright contagious.

This book is the most helpful, informative book on striper fishing I have read. As a transplant from the mid-west, I was not well versed on striper fishing. Very specific information is intelligently provided, often the kind of facts many fishermen do not share. As primarily a boat fisherman, the product was still enormously valuable. This book is more than worth the price. I have shared several copies with friends.
