Editorial Reviews

Review

" This novel is a good mystery with several interesting characters. The topics of snowboarding and the Internet will appeal to many readers. The detail about the Internet, snowboarding, and avalanches may also grab the interest of non-fiction readers. Included at the end of the novel are several addresses for readers to write for more information about avalanches, Outward Bound, and snowboarding." -- Resource Links, volume 4, number 3

Format: Paperback
Surfers of Snow is an imaginative mystery novel that will appeal to young readers interested in outdoor sports, life in western Canada and crime-solving. The writing is lively and intelligent. Narrated from an adolescent boy's perspective, the author does a wonderful job of capturing the moods of a teen-ager, and the difficulties of growing up. Readers will puzzle over the mystery as the plot unfolds, but they will be surprised by an unexpected twist at the end. A terrific read for young people, Surfers of Snow will challenge young readers without belittling their intelligence.

Format: Paperback
An absolutely atrocious novel. Remarkable how one can write an entire novel, without once asking oneself if the requisite talent is there. Somewhat excusable, if this novel was written as part of a community service sentence. A truly painful experience for any reader.
